His time has come infact it came a long time ago . Hughes can't keep picking him can he ? It's ridiculous

My midfield given the chance would be

      Park-Barton-Graneo-Taarabt

with what we have and you want to protect the back four

      -------------Park------------

      Hoilett--Faurlin--Graneo--Taarabt

We are simply letting the opposition in between the space between the midfield and defence far to easily

Only watched the second half super fan so no real opinion
Well here is a tip. Watch the full game. Might give your post a bit more credibility rather than you guessing he will come good.. He was abysmal yesterday and he was not even on the left. He played with M Bia and Granero.

Not denying he is a good/great player. But on this form he should not be starting as he is out of sorts. Maybe this international break will help. One thing he is certainly not is a captain. Watched him after the second goal went in. Head down and not a word said. Boy do we miss Barton for a bit of leadership and rockets up backsides.

I don't understand why all of a sudden Barton is the answer to our problems?
        A) He was complete and total garbage for 3/4 of the season.
        B) As many harped on about on here, he nearly cost us our place in the premier league.
        C) He's already alienated people on his own team in France with his attitude, arguing with his own team mates in the middle of a game.

I despise Barton and would personally never want him back here , the point I was making is that we miss him in the sense that the midfield is lightweight and has no bite . They can be as talented as they like but sometimes you've got to mix it up and win ugly something that I don't think our midfield at present has in them . Barton would provide this and is not afraid to dish out a b******** when it's needed . We get bullied to easy for example west ham .

No need to get tetchy. I only asked your opinion of what you thought his performance was like?

Well he was as awful in the first half.[/QUOTE]

Not worth biting fella. Somewhat ironic on a fans forum someone taking the pish for you following your team home and away! Then when you ask his opinion he only watched the "second half" Yet starts a thread about a player he has not even watched play that day and gives all these opinions. You have to laugh.

Granero and Faurlin are way too slow when teams counterattack us. Hence something is very wrong as far as keeping a tight unit which should be difficult to break down.
IMO, a team should play a system in which basically all members of the squad can easily slot into when needed. (of course, individual skills will affect the result, but anyway)
Last night I think, showed us how much we miss a player like Barton or Diakite to complement Granero and Faurlin(M´Bia)

Good post!! I would like us get Diakite back on form as soon as possible, or we should give Hogan a chance. I would also like us to get Barton Back.

Ha you agree with the post stating we need bite in midfield and we are lightweight. Then you suggest we give Hogan a chance?! You have to be joking.

I've watched every game bar yesterdays match by choice as well, I don't see the relevance in your 'tip'...I've think I've raised all the relevant points already.

So yesterday he played yet another position, with yet another different midfield combination which no doubt will be changed against Everton yet again...the problem is staring you and everyone else right in the face.

First few games of the season he was our best player and from what I've seen so far has looked our best ball winner through the middle of the park

You don't play at the very highest level consistently through your career and suddenly become a poor player overnight. He is 31 so he's not passed it What a ridiculous comment to make from so many supporters.

                      So what is the problem?

He's a right-sided midfielder being played on the left to accommodate other players. He's Captaining an unsettled team without a consistent starting at 11 where The formation seems to change on a weekly basis.

Write him off at your peril because as the season progresses and our backs will be up against the wall he's exactly the sort of player you will want in the trenches with you.

He is playing poor at the moment as is most of the team, a few matches do not make a season... Wise up !
                      Good post, completely agree.

You cannot blame the position/midfield combination for Park bottling tackles/losing the ball and generally offering nothing. He is struggling to do even the basics at the moment which given a player of his ability should come naturally regardless where he plays. He is having no influence on the games like he did in the first few.

M'Bia seemed to handle the different midfield/position very well yesterday. The different midfield also did not seem to effect Granero. I think if his best position is on the right of midfield then that is where he should play. But regardless of where he plays a player of his ability should be doing better.

I just want to give Hogan a chance to see if his ability to run at players will pay off, if we try.Besides, On certain occations when I have seen him on telly; he is also quite good at finding the right channels to advance. He did also form a quite good relationship with Adel in the CC.

Park probably puts in more of a shift than most of our players and think he justifies his place. Played in his correct position we may see the best of him. Should he be Captain? Nope but only because he isn't vocal enough and doesn't seem to lead or gee-up the team when we fall behind. I'd give that to Nelson.

Ok point taken but putting aside Barton's attitude, he can be as strong as he likes and add steel to the midfield but the fact remains he is a rubbish rubbish player.
