tbh... i don't think it's delusional to say that we should be able to compete with (and beat) other clubs. what is delusional is to pretend that we can win every game that we manage to compete in.
in the league, it's been a mixed bag so far... we got hammered by swansea, but could have won/drawn had we scored first. fluked a point against a much better norwich. played well in patches but only managed one point from games against man city, scum and spurs. then got totally bullied by wet spam. realistically, i only expected 5 points from those games, so in all, we're not that far behind where i thought we'd be.

article is spot on. You cannot fault owners for having ambitions, but there are two ways to make a club successful. The first is by adopting the chelsea/man city approach of massive short term investment and the second is to build a squad of promising, hungry young players who all know what their role in the club is helped out by one or two experienced heads who can grow into a formidable team, like Everton for example. Sadly Fernandes seems to have tried to do the former but on a budget scale which is neither here nor there. Comparisons with Venkeys are harsh as Fernandes seems to know a little about the game and we have to praise what he is trying to do for the club, but they are not also a million miles away.

So come on then, tell us exactly what state the club's finances are in.Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Can't believe I'm reading some of your responses. Have you all surrendered our league status after six games? The article is spot on is it? Well, to all the surrender monkeys on here, you don't mind if some of us don't give up just yet?
Aged squad? This could be a regular first team. Are they all over the hill?
Cesar
Fabio Ferdinand M'bia Traore
Mackie Granero Faurlin Taraabt
Cisse Hoilett
Two players out of eleven are over 30. The whole back four, the whole midfield, and half the forward line all well under 30. I honestly don't know why some of you read this claptrap from outsiders. Worse still, some of you believe every word that's written.
Shame on you who put the word of some unknown blogger over what our chairman has said and his ability to run our club.Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

You could say virtually every player bar a handful of the world's elite is "surplus to requirements" when sold. But if you are getting players from Man U, Inter Milan, Real Madrid etc the chances are they will be good enough for us. The article does level some fair criticisms. I also think we lack a leader, a fighter, a de Jong type player. And in Prem terms we haven't spent enough to be able to assume we will be successful. But I hate the condescending, snobbish tone that somehow every club has its place and shouldn't strive for more. On what basis are we a lower-half championship club? Due to our current players, manager, owners, history, what? Because I just don't see that.

One especially salient point is Hughes’s experience both at Blackburn Rovers and Fulham, where his first season also involved significant spells in the relegation zone but ended with comfortable survival. Both clubs were also established in the top half of the Premier League table when he left. Michael Gray, who played under Hughes at Blackburn, says that it was a result of how hard they were worked in training, both physically and tactically.
“I think invariably my teams have always been stronger in the second half of the season", says Hughes. "That’s a consequence of the work we do on a daily basis. We are a team that builds, grows and evolves.
I know how to set teams up to win Premier League games, I’ve done that in the past and I’ll do it in the future. We just need a bit of continuity in terms of selection and performance. Once you get a bit of momentum, we will build our season and have a good season.
I was at Man City for 18 months and I had pressure every day there, everybody was questioning whether I was going to have a job the next day. I’ve had six days of it here. I’m sure I can cope. We will get performances and results. Long-term, I will take this club forward.”
