  • What kind of fan are you?

A good thread on the England Fans board

    So what are you?

Level 1 - Used to play for your team, had testamonial, brought up in local area, one team man and then started watching them EVERYWHERE!!

Level 2 - On the board / major shareholder - i.e. you have a financial stake in the club as well as one with your heart - but with a club you know that there is no chance of any financial payback.

Level 3 - Help out at the club - from half time announcements, sweeping the stands at full time, donning the macots colours or pulling pints at half time.

Level 4 - Home and away supporter - every match - with a few reserve games thrown in for good measure.

Level 5 - Season ticket holder - every home game and a few aways when new grounds crop up or a decent tie.

Level 6 - Member - every home game but cant guarantee / afford season ticket.

Level 7 - Most home games until you spit the dummy out and / or they go on a poor run.

Level 8 - Boxing day and NYD job.

Level 9 - Local radio job (get more credit than 10 as its crackle FM around here)

Level 10 - watch it on TV job - easy life (or ex pat!)

Level 11 - have two club team shirts in your wardrobe!!

Level 12 - have supported more than two club teams!!

Using your "grading" system I'm currently ONLY a level 5 but have been going for almost 40 years, and been up and and down the country at every level, as have my family for generations, both past and present and no doubt future. I therefore don't consider myself at any other level than any other loyal supporter, and most certainly not below board members or Directors.

Well according to your scale I am a level 10 Isleworth but I'm not sure I agree with how you have structured this.

I'm an expat but I make at least 5 games a season. Bearing in mind that the cost of flights, transportation, tickets and hotels generally exceeds 1000 quid, plus the effort of a 7 hour flight each way for sometimes as little as 48 hours in the UK (and often to see us lose). Add to that the fact that I watch every minute of every game over here despite the time difference and myself and Singing Ranger have set up a supporters club here. Last point, if I was in the UK I would have a season ticket.

All that taken into account, I think I am more than a level 10 arm chair fan!

Guess I'd fit into level 5 but don't go to away games just to visit new grounds.

Well... I am a level 6 but spend winters abroad which would make me a level 10......levels 11 and 12 are simply NOT fans and finally, if the rumours are correct, the Mittals are level 2 but may be looking to f*** off and leave our beloved QPR......

                  A moderately obese level 5.

Level 42; although Mark King was a bit overrated. I can live with that.

Shouldn't you guys be wearing your campaign medals at games?
