most players don't stand out on their debuts, especially in a makeshift defence. The truth is our defenders across the board, including the injured ones are nowhere near good enough, as a unit and individually at this level. Nelsen and probably Boswinga IMO are the exeception. I like Clint Hill but he has played lots of games where we've conceded stacks of goals. Is that a coincidence? Onouha is not a left back, looks uncomfortable when the ball comes near him. Hill's distribution is terrible. The whole thing is way below what we need in the PL. We need some real quality at the back and a proper leader who will organise them.

Just seen the highlights, that is a very, very strange call from the ref to point to the spot for that ''challenge'',...

Getting a bit fed up of players playing out of position. Why did we buy a DM to play CB? Why did we buy JSP who is a right-sided player, to play LM? Why did we buy Fabio, who again is a right-sided player, to play LB? SWP, who is a right-sided player, has been playing LM too. Mackie says he's a striker but plays RM.

I expect all professional footballers to be able to play a variety of positions, but why don't we start playing them in their best positions? We might start winning games then...
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Thought he looked quick, sharp and reads the game well. Potential to make rash challenges but once bedded in will become a first choice centre back. Long range passing was a bit stray but he always looked to retain possession at the back instead of lumping it. A good signing for us.

Didn't watch the game, but based on your analysis, we should only keep him on the bench and bring him when we are comfortably winning. We cannot afford defensive mistakes.

I didn´t see the match, but did Diakite come across as the finished article oh his debut, did he really?
              Bottomline; give M´Bia time.

The team as well, but that´s another matter.

wasn't the best debut of all time, but we shouldn't be making life long judgements based on 1 game
he can obviously play and will take a bit of time to settle in
                isn't that normal?

Everyone sees things different I guess. I just saw the goals again, and yes he lost Gorkks for the first one, but generally I thought he looked solid, composed and comfortable on the ball. Think he'll prove a top player for us. He has played CB for the last 2 seasons, so he'll certainly improve once he settles into the back 4 properly.

Also the penalty was never a penalty!

Matty, there were people slagging him off before he played. He'd been written off as another injury prone waster last week.

There has always been knee-jerk fans, it just seems they feed off each others neuroses on these message boards. In the old days the people who sit near them could talk them down. On here there's always another one of them to back them up.....

the more i think about the more he appeared to lack any sort of football brain, but he needs time to settle but I'm not that optimistic at present

It was only his first game, let's hope we see massive improvement when everyone's back

Had to laugh when he misjudged a header and it went sideways and someone shouted that Hughes had signed "George Santos"!

Arguably, his most successful period in France was playing as centre back......he will come good, don't fret.

the penalty was one of the worst decisions i've seen for ages... absolutely shocking.

He jockeyed the Russian for a bit with arms next to him, then had completley moved them away by the time he fell over his Rubels and threw himself to the ground with a twisting movement..
