Did you go Matty? Come on fella he was awful tonight and way out his depth. Hammersmith sums him up perfectly.

For us that would mean around 29k."

Mackie had a very ineffective game tonight. He did nothing going forward and clearly did nothing defensively. Previously, he's put lots of effort in but tonight he didn't seem to do that. It was a chance to impress and he blew it IMO

Totally agree gives his all but at this level thats not enough. in fact thought maybe after sunday we're starting to get over excited, inept display especially the back four. ony one I thought was ok Hoilett and Zamora made a bit of a differance when he came on.

totally out of his depth and slows all of the play down, Runs into blind alleys and for too long has got away with it because he tries hard even that last night you could question.

yep last night he wasnt even chasing the ball down or trying to win it back after he lost it. he even engaged in some adel style arms in the air, "why aren't i getting the service?" moans as if he is this brilliant ball-smith who needs to be fed the ball all the time. the idea that when the team aren't really clicking, park was having a shocker and being played out of position to accomodate him, and faurlin and granero were having to work their backsides off to protect our shaky defence so therefore mackie might get stuck in and help out - well, it just didnt seem to occur to him.

the one positive is that surely now hughes will drop mackie, play park on the right, hoillet left and then start zamora and cisse up top together. maybe not a team for an away match but surely the team v west ham.

He was played last night for no other reason than a run out. It says a lot when Dyer/Granero especially are reluctant to pass to him. One thing that has improved this season is our passing with the likes of Faurlin/Granero. Mackie simply does not have the ability to play this way which is why he looks so out of his depth. This might be why his effort levels have dropped as he is aware of this himself.

key point for me.I lost count of the amount of times slick interchanges of passes were slowed down by Mackie and his inability to get his head up last night. Simply not good enough at this level and has a negative effect on our attacking play.

I didn't mate no so I'm not commenting on his performance but just makes me laugh how some people seem to be total experts at analysing games and performances .

I have said before that Adel also slows down moves with his need to do stepovers or beat a player, but he still gets a lot of backing

When we are playing Faurlin & Granero in the middle looking to play a neat possession based passing game, Mackie is not the player we need filling that role. Yes admittedly Adel holds on to the ball also, but he has a knack of picking out some great passes and I'd say a better dribble success rate. Even if it isn't a better success rate, he definitely creates more goalscoring chances. When was the last time you saw Mackie play a good through ball? All I can muster from my memory is his pass across to Adel at Palace 2 seasons ago!

P.S. I won Mackie's boots from the start of that season and they're sitting under my bed. Anybody wanna buy em?

If and when Adel is fit but Hughes decides to start Mackie in his place, that will be the time I start calling for the mangers head. Funny how 2 years ago I took dogs abuse for slating the bloke and here we are ALL agreeing that Mackie isn't good enough, only on WRTRB's, unbelievable!
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

2 years ago we were in the Championship. I'd say he was good enough back then.
