  • The key is stopping Bale

I think Mark Hughes should today get the best marking on Gareth Bale. Not sure who can do that Onuoha, Bosingwa?

If MH plays Mackie on the right and Park on the left they will take care of Bale and Lennon leaving our back four to mop up Defoe and Dempsey. No problem!
22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!

We should be thinking that they should worry about stopping our players !!

Totally agree, we've got plenty of quality to trouble them. Second half at Man City and last week against scum proved that

Their back line will be more worried over Zamora and Cisse then ours will be over Defoe etc. Our back line is better than Spuds at present

Just throw Bale a bannana and hang a car tyre from the goalpost that will keep him busy.

I dont rate Bale, I dont see the hype. He is all about pace pushes the ball past the full back and chases it. He has no skills or tricks to beat his man other then pace.

Put a equally quick player up against him and he disappears

Bale is a very inconsistant layer IMO, way too much so to be worth the £40m touted about his name. Still though, on his day, he is unstoppable (as Maicon found out last year!). For me, our best option today is Park on the right as he will work just as hard, if not harder than Bale down that flank and wont give him a second to think.
Its not quite as simple as stopping Bale & stopping Spuds though, Defoe is a right handful and he will score giving a few half chances. Lennon is obviously a good player too, as are Sandro & Sigurdsson.

I think we have the capabilities to contain them though I really do. Think we could get something from today - cant wait for it, guna be a great atmosphere.

I don't rate Bale quite as highly as some of these supposed experts on sky ect, but I think if he was that easy to take care of, a few more managers at the top level would have sussed this out by now.

Nail him in the first minute and job done.

A lot of teams seem to be doubling up on him now. Only problem with that, 2 players on 1 leaves other players exposed.

I'd rather option 1. Put him in the stands early doors!

I fully agree with you. My point is about their main threat.

I'll be more worried with Lennon and Defoe than bale.

Spuds are no better than Man City, and if we can give City a game, we can get something from Spuds.
The only people who will prevent us getting anything today at Whata fart lane, is QPR themselves, by playing well below what we know they are all capable of.
We haven't won away under Mark Hughes yet, today would be ideal to notch up our first.

We've gotta take the game to spuds today! our midfield will be crucial again today. My only concern is have we got enough threat upfront to put away the chances?
