Considering he has travelled to New Zealand and the Solomon Islands in the last few days then fair play. He uses his brain. He is not quick, but he puts his strength about and reads the game.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.

Absolute rock yesterday, he's the exact type of defender anton needs next to him at the back. Rarely loses a header and is constantly talking to the back four, allowing anton to concentrate on his own positioning and defending. Brilliant bit of business on a bosman.

He's a tough, strong minded bloke with great vision for the game.

A real asset - and not a million miles from the late, great Macca IMO.

We are very lucky - albeit unlucky in the sense that he's probably only got a couple of seasons left in him.

Good signing and had a good game. My only worry is his age. I doubt he can play week in week out.

I agree but his experience and knowhow are invaluable and I could see him getting involved as a defensive coach, maybe helping someone like Sam Magri progress. Let's not forget him, supposedly one of the best defensive prospects produced here for years

Today he was immense! Everything that came his way he dealt with class.

Torres didn't get a looking all game because of him!
I don't think many questioned his signing at all
