I think Hughes has found out that it is impossible to carry one player defensively if you want to get points in the Premier League.

Also to be fair Adel hasn't done enough going forward to justify his inclusion. Hoilett looks a better option to me, less entertaining but more end product to come. I think SWP is showing his quality as well, raised his game now he has some quality around him.

Exciting times ahead. 10th place for me. Lots of poor teams in the league, would expect good results against Norwich, West ham, Reading, Saints, Wigan, Sunderland, Stoke, and Villa, all of whom look very poor.

The reason clubs sign some players on new contacts is for sell on value so they can't leave for nothing I,e, RVP & Others if Adel does get in he will have too be really influential.

He played well against Swansea, I think he had about 7 shots all on target and put a few of our players in on goal. He looked really lively in that game, it is a shame he hasn't played since and has probably lost some of his momentum. However I think this competition for places will bring out the best in him and the others.

I was talking to an owner of a league 1 club today and was at the game yesterday, his first words were i cant believe MH played SWP instead of Mackie. He went on to say he has an occasional look on this message board and cant believe the people who slate Mackie as a player who just puts his head down and runs. He advises those people to watch a re run of a game he plays in and only watch Mackie and people may have a different opinion of him as he brings loads to our team and its nots all about when he has the ball !!!

Mackie is a great player imo, looked quite lively as well yesterday. A lot of people think he's useless...but as QPRWebbie has just said watch the re runs of our games and focus on Mackie... He's a very very important player. Just because he is not the best with trickery or whatever and there are 'bigger' names at the club doesn't mean they are better. Also he looked quite good up front yesterday and almost nicked a goal.

why SWP plays is beyond me never any end product , ashley cole had the measure of him yesterday. adels lack of workrate is probabley why hes warming the bench , junior has been disapointing so far. i said to my mate yesterday watch mackie chase every lost cause and soon as he chased down terry forcing him to go long and we won the ball back . if we had 11 players with mackies attitude we wouldnt lose many

I think that's his most effective role TBH.

Granted Mackie was off the pace on Saturday, that often happens when a sub comes on after half an hour because it is difficult to get into the game - but fat? Seriously, that is just bizarre
