  • Financial fair play in action

Not directly QPR related, but with all the media attention on our finances I'm sure this story might be interesting. Uefa have withheld prize money to teams as part of it's fair play sanctions.

This article actually has a full list of clubs

I Really can't see how these rules promote fairness in the game? No shock that the majority of those teams are from eastern Europe where ticket prices are around £2-£3 pounds per game. It needs to be remembered that in places like Croatia and Serbia people get paid on average £200 per month and obviously nobody is gonna pay £45 to watch a game so it would take clubs there 20+ games for to extract the same amount of money a prem team would do in 1 game so how is that fair?

The bans at the moment relate, in the main, to these clubs not paying taxes to their respective governments.

FFP is often talked about as being a big stick to stop spending mainly by journalists either too lazy to read what FFP actualy means, from supporters of clubs that have fallen from grace, supporters worried that their club will fall from grace .

The real fear for UEFA is that they want to apply more control over the very big clubs yet in the background UEFAs real cocern seems to be that a real top league will be formed by clubs breaking away and doing what Packer did to cricket. Lets face it the EPL is great in terms of revenue for many of the not so large clubs but if you took say the top 6 clubs from England, Spain, Italy and Germany and created a super Eureopean league well the finacial benefits benefits to those clubs would be huge and yes I know a league of 24 is very big but they wouldnt be playing in additional competions like the league cup or indeed additional eureopean competitions.
Platini walks a fine line but dont expect FFP causing too many problems to the real big boys.
