The word "Home Grown" has been basterdised by the Premier League, as years ago it would have meant that a young boy has gone through the age groups and has got into the first team squad. Beginning with the 2010-11 Premier League season, clubs must have at least eight “home grown” players and to be classified as home grown, the players under the age of 21 need to have been registered with the club at least three years. So talent from all over the world at the age of 15 to 18 are being shipped in at the expense of the real homegrown players. It is shocking, but there is not one rule the PL has passed, that has protected or given English players aged 15-19 a chance in the top teams, as they are systematically replaced with kids from other countries and as there is a food chain, the kids in the top teams filter down to the teams below them, whose Kids get filtered down to Tesco.
