I think it's laughable that some think that's okay because they feel it is their right to speculate as to what might be wrong with him - because this is a message board for exactly that sort of conjecture. No it's not.
It's not the same as the drivel posted by the itk wannabe's with their transfer rumors or peoples opinions on whether the manager's any good or not or who is the best player stuff - this is a human being with issues in HIS personal life but as usual it turned out as a more dramatic soap story line than Eastenders because fans of the Club he plays for felt it their divine right to diagnose and write him off with zero knowledge of any of the facts.

    • i see all of this in a more positive way and I hope SD does the same: i, like others on this site/thread, wished Samba all the best should the rumour be true. we all showed our support for him (bar a couple of cavemen) and understood that depression is a massive issue and something to be taken very seriously.
the only arguing (which imo isn't worth the space it takes on this page) was down to "who started the rumour"

Does it matter? Think about it - does it really matter? i for one know full well that if someone was rumoured to be suffering from depression in football abbout 20 years ago - all fans would be on th eplayers back claiming "why are you upset you've got it made" but now? now we are supportive, we come together and we pass on our supportive messages.

we shouldn't be arguing over who starts rumours etc as most of football stories as spectulation - from the starting XI to transfer targets to next manager sacked (we've all posted our opinions) but we should be CELEBRATING the fact that in this thread we showed our support for a player we thought may need support.

      • I'm sure older posters will remember the tragic story of our late, great Dave Clement, and how depression ultimately cost him his life.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

        • If the cases of our own Dave Clement, Justin Fashanu, Stan Collymore and Gary Speed have done any good its to work towards further reducing the stigma of mental illness. If all fans on this MB have been guilty of is of being extra-sensitive to the issue then this is certainly no bad thing (even if it does transpire that the rumour was inaccurate) and it also demonstrates their support and concern for one of our players.

How and why did I start supporting QPR in Estonia:

Unfortunately in the way it is today, the Club must have known when the put out this statement that it would not satisfy journalists and that they would come out with conjectures as to what was actually happening. Not sure what else the club could have done though.

How do you know whats gone on in Samba's life? None of us know, and therefore none of us should be too quick to judge. I just wish him a speedy recovery tbh.

                  • bravado, i reckon most of the users on this site are far more sensitive and understanding regards sambas situation but feel a bit of 'macho' peer pressure to treat mental health issues as a joke

macho peer pressure, precisely the reason i no longer wear lippy to games

                    ..or me schnets

I don't care about morals 'cause the world's insane and we're all to blame anyway
