  • Mbia: Marseille forced me out

New Queens Park Rangers signing Stephane Mbia has revealed he did not want to leave Marseille but was asked to go to reduce the wage bill.

"I didn't want to go but the owner of the club made me understand I had to leave," Mbia said in The Sun.

"The wage bill had to be reduced and certain players had to go."

Let's hope he still gives us 100% when playing for us

Didn't he say that he had agreed to go to QPR when Marseilles were still humming and harring as to whether he was going or not. In which case this article does not make much sense.

I think he'll be here for longer.
          Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
          And many more mistakes

If that's really the case he could have aligned his wage demands with Marseilles' finances and stayed!!
Nobody 'forced him out', but in any event this is all bowlocks, it was in the Sun!!!!!

So we are still paying Barton's wages then.

I thought he had a two year contract which we could automatically extend for another two years.

Where did you hear this though? As I say, Beard stated he is off our wage bill - as good as source as any for me. I highly doubt we would pay his wages and give him to another club.

Correct. Very smart move on our part IMO - better than giving him a definitive 4 year deal without knowing how he will cope in the PL.
