2. Utter rubbish just to try and accentuate your point. As comparison, please tell me how many defenders Mackie beats before crossing the ball.... next to zero. He bundles into them and sometimes gets the run of the ball before losing it normally. Very rarely crosses.
3. You're missing the point
The statement made was he'll never be a prem player. The last time i looked there were 20 prem teams, not just us. Even if he never breaks into our team, it doesn't mean he couldn't become a prem player for another club.
Just to add to the argument... some of our fans before last season were adament that Derry, Hill, HH etc were nowhere near good enough for the prem... all proved wrong.
Also, if the squad was only 24, would he be there and if so, who would miss out ?Last edited by paulmason; 05-09-2012, 01:57 PM.

I know exactly what it means thanks.
The fact is you are saying he would never be a prem player... which suggests he couldn't do a job in any prem team. Then you keep referring to our players saying would he play in front of hoilett, Adel, Park etc etc.... But the statement there is you don't think he will ever be good enough to play for QPR in the prem, which is a totally different thing.
I agree i can't see him ever starting ahead of our main players, but MH obviously sees something there to warrant a place, so who's anyone to argue. It may only ever be in extremely bad circumstances he might get a chance if ever, with injuries, illness affecting some and getting a chance off the bench in a game possibly.
However, our squad is now much better, especially in midfield, then loads of prem clubs so even if he's not good enough for us, he could be for another team and therefore be a prem player.

Maybe if he got promoted with a team from the Championship, but the last time that happened, we was sent out on loan to a league one club.
Jason Puncheon was deemed not good enough by Warnock in the PL, but is now a starter for Southampton.Last edited by paulmason; 05-09-2012, 02:36 PM.

Fair enough.
He was sent out on loan, but let's not forget that Clint Hill was also loaned out to a lower league team before returning later and claiming the Fans and players POTY awards..... point is, until he has a run of games nobody knws if he will be able to cope or not. Some players you'd think wouldn't cope do well and others you'd think would be fine fail miserably.
Puncheon is different, that was just Warnock being ignorant. He proved he could perform in the prem doing very well for Blackpool, then never got a sniff bar about 15mins for us i think. He's now doing well for Saints.

Hogan could not even get into a Premier league side that barely survived relegation last season. Warnock/Hughes could have played him but deemed him not good enough for the side. And yes they watch him train week in week out. That side which could have been relegated. He went on loan to Charlton a while back and was deemed not good enough by them when they had the option to buy him.
And you can be amazing in training everyday of the week, But it is on the pitch it matters. I have seen him play enough in competitive games to know he is not good enough at this level.
He may have just made the 25 ( As Mason says if it was a squad of 24 then bye bye Hogan ). But he will be nowhere near the matchday squad. As was shown when he could not make the bench V Wallsall.

I get everyone has opinions, however I cant help but feel you dislike or just DONT RATE Hogan as a player.
Some people dont rate SWP but the facts remain with confidence the guy is a very good player.
he's 24, already gained bags of experience and played lots of games. He will make the cut by the time he is in his prime!

Do respect that Hughes knows a hell of a lot more about football than me but if I were in hisshoes I wd not have put Hogan in the 25 as have never seen him impose himself on a match, ever. imo he has actually gone backwards - maybe expectations and the players around him were just much worse but I remember being pretty impressed with him when he joined us initially on loan I think. But since then he has never really established himself, even at Charlton or Leeds. I can only assume he made the 25 to make up the numbers really, as Bothroyd and DJ were prob on much bigger money and the board wanted them off the wage bill.
