  • RE - The Team ETC ETC

As usual, after a superb pre season and lots of transfer activity. The usual suspects begin to moan after just THREE GAMES (Wake up call, we have Chelsea and Spurs next so dont expect much else haha)

    1. Ok so we lost to Swansea badly - First half we looked very good IMO and in actual fact our confidence is knocked because of that.
    2. Norwich - A good point, we hardly ever get anything against them, not many teams will in actual fact
    3. Man CHAMPIONS City - Again we did ok, we played the champs on thier own patch and gave a good account for ourselves

Its key to remember that we have a new squad that need time. Come West Ham at home, I believe we will look a lot better and will get three points.

Keep the faith, MH has already found some gems in Diakite (Mbia will prove superb)

With regards to Park - In all fairness the guy has worked his ******** off, he is a quality player who will give 110% every game. However, he is no exception and he is our Captain so he will need to expect the extra pressure.

Keep the faith Hoops. Booing and moaning wont change a thing! THEY CAN HEAR US!!

    You R'ssssssssssss

All fair points. Just a shame the Swansea game was such a hammer blow. If we had got three points from that we cd have afforded a couple of tonkings in the hard matches now upon us. Football is not always fair or logical and sadly if we lose the next couple of game badly, pressure (not from you, me or the vast majority of fans) will begin to mount. you are absolutely right tho we need to really get behind the team against chelsea.

true, and this is along the lines of what I have been saying on other threads.

Yes, the Swansea game was a shock, and yes, QPR could have scored a few in that game too, and the goals conceded were mainly down to poor defending, but after that, the next two games went as well as most could have expected.

We are two points behind comparable games last season, which is not a valid reason for people to top themselves just yet.

The interesting comparison will be the points we got last year from the teams relegated, to the post we get this year from the teams promoted.

Last year we got 4pts from a possible 18pts.

          Well said.

People want all the new players etc, but then expect instant results.... it won't work like that when trying to bed in an almost entirely new team.

Sometimes you need to take a step back to take 2 or 3 forward, speculate to accumulate etc. Basically the first 5 / 6 games were always going to be tough because of so many new arrivals needing time to gel. Any points along the way is a bonus, but we shouldn't expect too much. Once they are used to eachother they could create something really special with the batch of players we have.

Be patient people and i think when settled we will be more than a match for nearly all teams with our first choice 11 playing... I mean forget Man Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, possibly Spurs.... but of the rest, do you really see their first 11's being better than ours now... i don't.

Give it time and the rewards will come.

Best post I have read in weeks!!

            - Probably worded better than my original post. The point is we have no got a very good SQUAD, not just starting 11. And as you said, not many teams outside the top 5 have a better team than us.

I would rather us play the teams we don't expect to get a point at whilst we are gelling. Then to play team who we should win once gelled.
Imagine needing the team to gel whilst losing to the likes of spam ect then once the team has gelled we play the big teams it would have been a nightmare.

lots of very good points. The number of clean sheets we keep is ultimately going to be the key factor this season.
With Cesar, Fabio, Nelsen, Mbia and Boswinga and a greatly improved midfield in front of them, we would have to be quietly confident of keeping more teams out than last year.
We've clearly got goals in us and the ability and the players to create and score chances

I think its key to remember that our fixtures are a lot kinder this year, in terms of when we play certain teams.

once we get through the next two games we should find we are more settled. West Ham is a HUGE match for us...

I still also believe we will get 3 points against Chelsea

I also have a sneaky feeling we'll take something from the match. We've had a better performance, with good players to come in, theyare on the back of a shocking performance in Europe and also most their players will play internationals inbetween.

I agree, Chelsea is a bit overrated! They have only played teams like Wigan, Newcaste and Reading, all of those are quite easy to beat for a top-6 team. We won this game last season, I think our chanses are quite good this season as well actually..

I definitely think Spurs away is a game we can get something from. We went there last year, when they were in blinding form, now they have weaker team, not in form and we are stronger

I thought Hughes had had rather more than three games. We've started where we left off, only less convincingly.
