Senior coaches brought in to work with the club’s newly-formed Academy
QUEENS Park Rangers Football Club is pleased to announce the additions of senior coaches Paul Furlong and Nick Daws, who will both work with the club’s newly-formed Academy.
Former R’s striker and fans’ favourite Furlong – who also represented Coventry City, Watford, Chelsea and Birmingham City among others during his playing days – has been appointed Assistant Youth Development Coach, having already worked in a part-time capacity with the club.
Furlong will assist in ensuring that all our Academy players from the ages of 12 to 16 receive high-quality coaching and the pastoral, sports science and support services that each individual requires at this crucial developmental stage.
Meanwhile, Daws – who enjoyed a playing career with the likes of Bury and Rotherham United and has since held coaching roles with the Millers and Barnsley – has been appointed Assistant Professional Development Coach.
This role will see Daws working with Steve Gallen and the Under-18s, as they are prepare for the transition to the Elite Development Squad and professional football.
Head of Academy & Football Operations, Shaun Hallet, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have secured the services of Nick and Paul.
“Their substantial experience in professional football and undoubted qualities as coaches will further strengthen our growing professional team in the Academy.
“Both guys are enthusiastic, experienced, knowledgeable and very committed and can't wait to start work with the club.”
