  • We are such a better team

    Guys,

it's 3 games in and we have 35 left, lets not jump the gun and write off the season

We are a far better team than last year and we survived.
Theleague has not got stronger but we have.

The perfect proof is our team vs Man City on thelast day of the 2011-12 season vs the team yesterday just 3 games later...
[dont forget we've got Mbia, Cesar etc to add to the team too...

I would take this team over last year's any day of the week.
Things will come good, we just need time to gel

This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Brand new squad. Some with less than a week of practice. M'bia and Cesar haven't played yet. I would expect much worse than what we saw. The team settled after 20 minutes and we saw phases where they were keeping possession well against the champions of the most competitive league in the world.

Things look quite promising in my opinion. We shouldn't expect anything close to the team's potential for at least 6-7 weeks. The fact that they look decent already shows quality.

I have a suspicion we wont see the best football at QPR until post Hughes. A lot of fans want to give him a chance - are we supposed to forget about horrendous performances under him last season? Are we supposed to forget that we were within a hair's breadth of relegation? Are we supposed to forget that the warning signs were there pre season? Are we supposed to forget that Hughes wanted to get the business done early? Are we supposed to forget that Hughes said a 5-0 humiliation "would never happen again" while he was at the club, only for us to get raped first time out this year? Are we supposed to forget his abysmal away record comparable to some of the worst in our history? (Look in the form book)

We may imrove a bit but under Hughes the best we can hope for is mediocrity. There is not a single shred of evidence to think otherwise. I'm not sure that he's a players manager either. I think Harry is, although god only knows he has his issues ;) Tactics wise Harry has made mistakes, but he's smarter than Hughes. Does anyone know / can remember what details were made public re Hughes contract? I'm afraid that's the real issue here, its gonna cost a lot to ditch him.

getting rid of hughes will make things much harder and thats a fact.
new manager = him wanting to bring in his own players = brand new team again = we will never have a stable gelled team = bad performances = relegation scrap again.

We're supposed to let him have a full season in charge. He now has all the players he wants to work with, it will take time to get the players used to the way he plays. Last season was last season.

Warnock became an embarrassment in how he talked to the media, blaming every Tom, **** and Harry for why we couldn't win. So any comparison between the time he got and the time Hughes should get is utterly irrelevant.

Ever post is a knock on Hughes from you lately. Please stop saying you have given the guy a chance after 3 games into the season, it's disingenuous. And so what if we were a hair's breath from relegation? We don't have a divine right to stay in the league, no club does. 3 clubs go down every year, and not one of the club's supporters think it should be them.

Hughes has a good track record in the Premier League. I'd say we have yet to see the best of him. At least you've stopped slating Bobby Zamora. If you were wrong about him, is it really outside the realms of possibility you'd be wrong about Hughes too?

harry had his crack at a big4 club and didnt cut it tactically, he also bankrupted portsmouthand got southampton relegated
if he wasnt such a good ol english geezer, he wouldn't get as many jobs as he does

i'll also add that Harry is basically a slightly better version of warnock
good with the press and fans, likes a deal, can go off his rocker and lose it and no idea about tactics or how to change things when his one and only system doesnt work

I'd also add that maybe Arry is not the best person to be trusted with money.

I would like to see Hughes for a long time to come at our club. I mean, continuity is a big part of football these days and I would like to have what Arsenal and United has. Look at Pool, sacking managers every other month and they are constantly building teams for different football ideologies. Give hughes the chance for the comming years and even if we finnish the sixth round with 1 point, don't lose faith in what he's building. He has got a proven record in the BPL, and I believe we're yet to realise that.

When did Hughes say there would never be a 5-0 drubbing while he's manager? Tosh

First up, I never compared Colin to Hughes, so any mention of him is irrelevant to what I actually wrote. I didn't even mention him.
Secondly, re Zamora. I think he's totally inconsistent and puts in a shift if its going day. Why don't we monitor his progress and see how things work out? One swallow does not make a summer.

Re Hughes. So when you say give him a season, a literal interpretation of that is that if things go wrong you'd see us go down with him. Fair enough but I happen to differ. As it happens I suspect that at some point we'll struggle up a few places playing the mediocre football that has characterised his career - excepting when he up front himself, a much better player than manager imo.

Even if we make it to mid table safety, it'll be utilitarian safety. Mind you that would be a massive improvement on chaos. Oh, Q block and re the 0-5 - I think he did say something last season about making sure such a humuliation would never happen again under his leadership at our club. But I might be wrong about the exact circumstances of the humiliation which caused him to make that statement.
