all this talk of gelling please , good players should be able to fit in anytime . look at van persie today he slots in because hes class . no need to worry yet but we need to win 1 of our next 2 or 3 games. we were dire in the 1st half yesterday we sat far to deep and invited city to come on to us and on another day we could have been 3 or 4 down .why we played all those lesser teams in pre season is beyond me as we seem to be slow out of the blocks

This thread is ridiculous. Yes, I expected a bit better from the Swansea game, but that aside the other two games have gone as well as I thought.... A draw at Norwich and a loss at Man City. I don't have any great expectations from the next two Games either. 2 draws would be good results from Chelsea and Spurs. The table at this stage means nothing.

Thought it was a perfectly valid question myself, what with everyone moaning and groaning this weekend.

Yes, I expect QPR to give Chelsea and Spurs a game, but don't expect to win them (great if they do). QPR gave City a game in the 2nd half and Nelsen had two great opportunities to equalise, and I expect QPR to perform against Chelsea and Spurs as they did last season at Loftus Road.

QPR have some good players, and should perform better.

As for needing time to gel, yes, they do. Van Persie has settled in great at United, but he and Kagawa are the only new players in the team so it is easier for them.

QPR have to gel Green or Cesar with Bosingwa, Fabio, Nelsen, Granero, Park, Hoilett and Mbia, not to mention a fit again Faurlin who had not played alongside Zamora, Cisse, Onouha last season.

That's a whole team to gel together, so of course it will take time.

Some fans seem to be suggesting that Hughes is on borrowed time, but I don't think he should be under any pressure.

Most of the Premierships successful sides, not just winning trophies, but maintaining EPL status, have been so due to the manager being given time. Man U Arsenal Everton are current ones, but Charlton when they had Curbishley, Bolton with Allardyce. Everton in particular have had a number of seasons when they have started slowly, yet they never panicked or put pressure on Moyes and he then steered them up the table into a top finish.

I sincerely hope that QPR's board don't take too much notice of some fans views and make the wrong decision.

I think that if they stick with Hughes, that after 12 games or so, QPR will be in a mid-table position between 12th-8th place.

i think you'll find he's had rather more than three games. I think you'll find we were shite for large parts of last season under his leadership. I think you'll find that his best his teams produce boring, reasonably efficient football. But he clearly isn't at his best.

why all the panic? We've bought top players Granero, Hoillet, Park, Diakite, Mbia, Cesar and with Faurlin & Dyer returning we've surely got much more quality than most of the teams n the lower half of the league.
it's not realistic to expect an overnight change but in a few months I honestly believe we will playing exciting football and winning matches, especially aganst the weaker, which we failed to do last year!

This. Apart from the Swansea game, everything is going as expected results-wise, and I've noticed our performances have been increasing with each game we play. I think we will get something out of the Chelsea match if we play the way we did (at times) at City but hopefully play more attacking, because with our players we are more than capable of doing so, and with the fans roaring on the team it can only help the team gain confidence to go out and play for the win!
"When you went to the corner and saw our fans celebrating the way they were you just wanted to be part of it" - Shaun Derry after we beat the scum 1-0

I think we need a reality check - successful teams take a bit of time to come together, regardless of quality of players

For the goldfish memories out there look how we faired after the last window. New players take time t settle into the squad and the system MH plays. We started slow and then won home games against Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal, Stoke, Swansea... Give the new players and MH time. We'll be flying come end of the month - early october with a long way to go.
