I though he showed a lot of glimpses of class considering he's only been with the squad 1 day and new to the prem , also playing against one of the top teams. Pretty confident over the next few months he will turn into a valuable player for us in the middle, especially with set plays where we really struggled last year.

this guy says granero is the playmaker but was used as the no6, this would explain his statistics.

Thanks for that mate, haven't checked out LFW this weekend.

He hit some terrific passes for us yesterday, so his vision and technical ability to me seemed superb. Then I stumbled upon that article at FourFourTwo, and I've long admired Michael Cox's opinion and ability to analyse games. So I thought to myself, holy crap why is the guy not finding strikers/runners in the box more often for Madrid? Deeper role would explain it, seems obvious.

I guess the way Cox worded his article to suggest his passing pattern was the same regardless of his position. Had me very worried!

Given all this I would guess he will tend to play slightly higher up the pitch them. If he sits deep he might be a bit too like Faurlin. Only problem is you are then probably back to be playing 4-2-3-1 with him the most advanced midfielder in the centre. But Cisse might struggle in the loan striker role (albeit just judging from Swansea game) and Zamora prob isn't clinical enough to play consistently on his own. Hey ho, hopefully Hughes has it worked out.

Think a 4-1-3-2 could work? Get width from the full backs? And giving Taarabt/Hoilett a free role to float into dangerous areas.

          Cesar

          Bosingwa-M'Bia-Nelsen-Fabio

          Faurlin

          Park-Granero-Taarabt/Hoilett

          Zamora-Cisse

With 3 attacking midfielders you would need wingers to track back. Park definitely would but i don't think Taarabt/Hoilett would

He's capable of doing it, I'm sure Sparky is trying to get him to work harder. Because he's not going to get near the first team if he doesn't.

on granero, i read somewhere in the buildup to his signing that he had been promised he would be the playmaker by MH. on hard working wingers who wont track back,
i just dont get why or why its allowed. i dont think sir alex would get it or have it either.

btw other reading i have done all suggests granero has a fantastic attitude too!

i liked him. he sprayed some good passes out wide and this distribution gave us something which we need much more of - width on the flanks.
                  come on you r's!

I cant see Adel and Granero starting the same game, as they seem to be quite similar and if they do, it will be interesting to see what happens when we get a set piece.

                    ---------------- Cesar -----------------
                    - Bosingwa - M'Bia - Nelsen - Fabio -
                    - Park - Granero - Faurlin - Hoilett -
                    --------- Zamora -----------------------
                    ------------------- Johnson ------------
