It's all rather sad as he has the potential to be a top player for us. I have no idea what his exact issues are, but it could be family issues? Can they move over to London? Civil war in his own country?

I hope he gets the help that he needs and we see him back playing for us.
they only concentrate on a players physical condition in a medical dont they?

Sounds like rubbish to me. Everyone was going on about how he wouldn't play for us again when he wasn't used on the pre-season friendlies in Germany and how he wouldn't play against Swansea and he was in the team. People love a good rumour.

I would imagine these days and the money they are investing in the players, then they have to do a medical for both physical and mental issues.

You actually relayed that you heard 'something' about him that 'if true' would mean he might never play again. You didn't actually say what it was. Was it just what we knew already, through the club and elsewhere over the last couple of weeks?

If not, why didn't you say what it was? If it is the same stuff, why treat in such a cloak and dagger way, when you must know it was common knowledge?

So who actually told you this and who was their source and what sort of credibility does it have ? Can't see any reason why you wouldn't be able to share this and at least back up a pretty dramatic title to the post.

If any truth I'd terminate his contract , take back his signing on fee and have Nancy investigated to see if they withheld any information when we bought him.

Jesues what a sad situation , my mum has suffered badly from depression so I can sympathise with samba if that's what the lads suffering from. We need to give him the space and time to deal with it and support him as much as possible as none of us know the extent of his situation . At least it's been picked up so that the club can attempt to help him out cos too many people suffer in silence. We're gonna miss him while he sorts it out but some things are bigger than football, maybe thus why Ali seems to be playing sooner than expected . I for one wish samba a speedy recovery and can't wait to see him destroying the opposition in the not to distant future . Good luck Mali man

Seriously though I hope whatever's wrong he's feeling better soon. My favourite of our new signings not just because he has the potential to be a cracking player but because he seems to be a bit of a character as well. Will always treasure that debut where he set about cutting down everything in sight.

Can't believe this was not picked up by our medical staff when we signed him in the summer. He is on a long term contract on very good money. Will we be able to get any money back from him via medical insurance?

Certainly explains his absence for part of pre season and his poor performances again Swansea and Norwich.

Sad story as I had high hopes for the kid.

Will be interesting to see if Hughes puts him in the 25 man squad?

Can't waste a space for someone who is going to be unavailable for many games until January before he might go to The Africa Cup of Nations.

Either of you care to elaborate?

Well said. Some people need to think before they post/don't post about things they have no knowledge about.

impossible question to ask people to speculate on without providing some facts.

however if he doesnt turn up for training or make himself available for selection then i am sure we will be able to sort something out regarding the contract.
its New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks

Rebel is spot on. I currently manage someone with depression and it's got nothing to do with material wealth. It's a very challenging illness. Quite a high percentage of time those who suffer from it do not really know the root cause, and many (I have had extensive discussions with Occupational Health @ IBM) do not know the triggers.

Also, I guess football employment law may have different boundaries (no idea about it) but as a regular employer of a decent size, you can't just get rid of them. You have to do everything possible to support and rehabilitate them back to full health, otherwise, you could face an employee tribunal where the is an 'uncapped' damages possibility (i.e. it could get very expensive!).

I read he had deprsssion. But if is related to an event it is slightly different to a clinical depression state that is deeeper rooted. But we don't know the detail.

If it is a mental condition then we "should" be covered by some insurance.
