I really cannot believe I am reading that he should be used as an impact sub.

Firstly, he works a lot harder for the team than he used to ... so credit where due. Yes, his inability to keep tracking back led to Swansea's third goal that killed us off, so criticism where due. But the fact remains, he is still our most talented player (well, maybe not anymore, but I will have to see more of Granero before I can decide). He is the one who creates, when the team looks flat, he can give it that extra dimension. We need to get rid of this mentality that every player should be a Derry in effort to win the ball back. How often did Ronaldo track back for Man Utd? How many times did you see Matt Le Tissier sliding in to win the ball?

The fact is that some players will always be enigmas - and you need to support their game. Taarabt is a confidence player, let him do his things. I don't buy the argument that you need every player to track back to survive at the top, because that is simply not true.

With Taarabt we know what we get, so he should have either been sold off and not given a new contract and the number 10 shirt, or he should be a regular starter in the team. But this nonsense of using him as an impact sub is not fair on us as a club and not fair on him as a player.
