I am not a fan who is fickle, and who starts moaning after every game. In fact, I did not moan after the Swansea game, because we actually played good football that first half, and had Mackie scored, or Rob not done a howler, things could have been different. I was disappointed against Norwich, as we looked poor.
However, for some people to suggest that we played good today is completely beyond me. Did people watch the same game? The excuse is "oh, we were playing the Champions, so we can't judge them harshly", well, I have news for you. The Champions have started poorly, Southampton gave them a good match, Liverpool totally dominated them and only drew because of two defensive mistakes. So it is hardly as if we were playing a team playing like Champions.
The first twenty minutes we were awful, and the next 25 we didn't create anything. The second half we played better, but it was still a poor performance. How many times did we play really good attacking football? How many times did we string half a dozen passes together? In fact, all out chances were coming from City's errors.
So what were my assessment of some of the performances.
Faurlin - poor. Do I blame him? No. Do I blame the gaffer? Yes. Why play him when he is only just coming back.
Granero - average. How some commentators can say he looked great is totally beyond me. I guess these are the same fans who say a player is brilliant the next week and then call the player rubbish the next. I was impressed with his delivery from set-pieces (much better than Adel against Swansea), and he seems to have good vision. But he hardly did anything, and did not impose himself. Once again, I am not blaming him, this was his first game, and it takes time to settle in. But to say he had a great game, please!
Park - impressive. He put in a good work-rate, and he did well.
Johnson - impressive too.
SWP - rubbish.
Zamora - did well to take the goal, being in the right place at the right time, but didn't offer much.
So I was bitterly disappointed with today's performance, we played a team that is in poor form, and still we were totally bossed.
