I think the board might be worried about signing players on too long a contract. They have done this in the past and then been stuck with them. We have a number of young players and who knows how they are going to come along in two years.

Also there might be something in the deal about us paying OM if he resigns in two years.

Where have you heard this sounds great? 2 years is worryingly short

Stephane Mbia interview on #QPR Player soon! When I said he was prob too tired to play tomo, he said: "Give me boots now and I'll play!"

QPR have completed their 12th summer signing after confirming the arrival of Cameroon international Stephane Mbia.

I too worry about the length of contract, he'll be able to agree a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club in 18 months and leave for free 6 months later.

The only thinking behind it maybe he wanted a lot more money than was being offered and we've agreed a relatively short term agreement with the promise of a higher wage contract in 12 months time.

Means if he has a blinding season, which we all hope, then the big boys will come sniffing and he'd be in the same situatron RVP was this summer, ie sell or risk losing for nothing... weird.
well joey barton is only gone for a year so if a big club do come in for M'bia next summer, we could always keep Barton.

Just might as well enjoy the fact M'bia will be playing for us this season and worry about that scenario next summer

2 year deal is a surprise. I agree with concerns that it is too short, but I guess it must have been Mbia's decision. Hopefully a 2 year option is part of the deal.

I think this might be correct, because if we take up the option, then I assume OM gets more money. This seems a win, win situation.

He probably has asked for a two year deal. Think of you was him in reality it is a risk coming here of he has a brilliant season but we are at the bottom of the table, a big club comes in we block the deal as he has another three years left. IMO he is covering his own ####.
