This is beginning to worry me. Even if all these purchases are shrewd (as cheap as possible) transactions, we should not forget about the top-tier wages in many tens of thousands of pounds that these players naturally negotiate for themselves as we play in the top tier of English footbal with substantial global prominence. I do not think we are realistically in a position (yet) to afford so many new players with their big wages.

Despite the Premier League revenue, we are still a small club with limited facilities, thus not turning a big profit (if any profit at all) even before this shopping spree. So what if the owners are very rich, it is their money and not the club's, and this spending means club rapidly descending into the red again. The club should be focusing on slow progress in the Premier League on limited and prudently used financial resources instead of panic-buying a shedload of players after a poor start to the season. I think the club is overstretching itself and it may end badly like it has for several top-tier clubs over the recent years. And I don't mean just relegation.

I'm sure the finances are well under control. We're not run by a gang of spivs but a group of highly successful businessmen. They know the value of these contracts, our budget for transfers, and our projected income. They probably also have a few commercial deals up their sleeves.

I have complete faith in our board and what it's trying to achieve. These guys know what they're doing.

If we won't buy new players, we go down. We are not buying a 1st XI, we are investing in a squad.

Sunderland have spent 24mil on transfer fee's alone on 2 players, I shudder to think what their signing on fee's, wages and agent fees would be on top. We are nowhere near that level.

I also share your concerns, but Tony Fernandes is a business man and knows what he's doing. Also, I'm sure I heard somewhere that our wage bill is lower than what we had last season!

I understand where you are coming from, & I also understand that this is TF's first venture into The World of football; but the statement he made on the offish, does give me hope:

So there is no probem, with sponsorship,tkt and club shop sales and £90m prem tv we are still making nice profit and next season TV = £170m so we will buying even bigger and better players in future

Well, what do you expect them to say? I am sure Leeds and Portsmouth also stressed that they had prudent long-term business plans which of course relied on PL survival. I am just worried, can't help it.

No way would the average wage be 40k IMO. Probably got 7 maybe 8 players on more than that, the rest between 20 and 30k. Just my guess, I have no info at all on it, just dont think we pay these mega wages some people think.

the end game this season (staying up and netting the significantly increased TV revenue) is at this stage worth some splurge with the cash i'd say. i am sure they are balancing the books with that in mind.

I think after this transfer window we will stop buying loads of players for a while, our midfield and defence will be settled, just think we may need a younger striker

I don't think people realise just how big the EPL is. Its appeal is global and attracts a worldwide audience. We are one of 20 participants and so many people want a slice of it or at least to watch it. It's a multi-billion pound business and we're sweating on paying a few players £40k a week?

We could always bow out and drop down a league or two if that would make people happy. We can remain little old QPR living in the shadows of Foolham and Chelski, or we can enjoy the ride of seeing our club transformed and developed. As TF said, QPR is a rough diamond with limitless potential.

How many of us are accountants with access to the club's books and business plan? We either trust the board or we don't. It's up to you.
