think the OP is referring to the fact that the Sunderland forum recently accused US, of spending way beyond our means and hoping we'd crash and burn---theyve now spunked 22m on just 2 players. Just a dig at them and quite rightly so...!

I'm sure Sunderland went through this nonsense when Roy Keane was spunking loads of money on average players a few years ago. Maybe a case of transference?
Thing I don't get, is that Sunderland have a lot going for them right now. To me Martin O'Neill is arguably the fourth Best PL manager of his era. He's got a well organised team, and is adding Johnson and Fletcher to the likes of Sessegnon and McLean. I'm very envious of their situation. Why aren't they happy with that?
Hmm. Oh yeah, they live in Sunderland. No wonder they're ****ing miserable!

They averaged 40k last season at home and that was with having a terrible start and end, we and 90% of clubs can only dream of averages like that.
In the last few years they've sold Henderson for 16m, Anton for 4m, Gyan for 6m loan fee (not sure how much the perm deal was), Kenwynne Jones for 8m, Waghorn for 3m, Bent for 24m.
That's serious money for outgoings and they haven't really spent heavily to replace the above. When you put it into perspective selling Bent to Villa and bringing in Fletcher and Johnson with change is good business.
Add to the fact their match day turnover will dwarf ours over a season and we're paying probably the same wages for our best players as they do for theirs they're definitely not spending beyond their means.

I don't want to see any clubs go out of business, which has been a close thing for Pompey.
Ceratinly don't agree that Martin O'Neill is the 4th best PL manager of his generation - he has spent fortunes on poor choices and massive wages all over the shop and although that has seen some pockets of decent success, it has left clubs in reall trouble in the aftermath somethimes.
