He might have also played them in with one of his quality free kicks, like last week.

Being serious, Adel should have come on for Hoilett as he was pony.

The problem with so many posters on here which they don't seem to understand is Mark Hughes prefers a Four Four Two formation yet when you're selecting your fantasy lineups you consistently view a midfield of Diakate , Park and Faurlin. There is no better passer of the ball in our team than Taarabt. The free roll which he tried to play against Swansea was a spectacular failure in my opinion, he could do it in the Championship but his game needs to be more disciplined in the PL. There is no way on this earth Mackie or even Hoilett should be starting over Taarabt, he needs a consistent role in the team. The left midfield role IMO should be Adels hands down no questions asked where he can cut in. Park, Hoilett and Mackie can fight it out for the right...its Hughes fault for buying too many players who play in the same position.
Not wrong there at all, that one pass is all it could take to get 3 points.

Agreed . We've seen his killer passes many times before which usually results in a goal scoring opportunity a few seconds later.

2 goals and a couple of assists v 8 goals and a couple of assists and Warnock done the same thing and I bet if a new manager came in next week, he would do the same.

Taarabt didn't come on because of the earlier subs in my opinion, they meant he had to leave it till late on, and by then the need to get us off the mark points-wise was more pressing than risking it for all three.

There seems to be a feeling that Taarabt is too lightweight, and doen't have the fighting spirit. I'd say there aren't many players in our team that are stronger on the ball. Adel rarely i ever gets pushed off the ball. His decision making about when to release it does mean he concedes possession often though.

Mackie is also a strong player, much more direct, but he also concedes possession by making bad decisions and getting himself caught in blind alleys.

The end product from both players is actually quite similar, for all the abuse levelled at them from the stalwart fans of each player.

Tough decision for MH to make, and I'd suggest we see a lot of either one or the other.

Personally, I'd suggest the extra energy and pace that Mackie has is far more useful coming on when chasing a game than Taarabt, so I'd hope we'd see Adel starting more often.

But, we may see both on the bench when Ale is fully fit, and Park can play in the role wide right that he is patently more comfortable in.

                    QPR boss explains Taarabt absence

Fulham is a typically diverse London area with something for everyone - from the hustle and bustle of North End Road Market, to the refined chicness of the iconic Fulham Road. It boasts superb pubs and restaurants, two Premier League football clubs and excellent transport links.

Trouble is the selfish little brat doesn't pass the ball often enough. SWP has been on form in the pre-season and should start on Tuesday. Hoilett was the best of a poor bunch against Swansea, but he to looks more likely to have a hopeless shot on goal than pass the ball to a player in a better position.

Dale a serious question. Do you actually support QPR FC (thick and thin and all that) or do you follow QPR FC because Adel plays for them, like these new Korean fans we have because of J S Park ?

adel with hoillet are our most creative players - however both play in same position and cisse and johnson both need a partner upfront - therefor both cant play.

unless hoillet plays wide right ahead of mackie i cant see how we play both of them.

THAT SAID... if we sure up our midfield - ala sort diakite out and get faurlin fit - maybe sign another CM - then we can have adel in a 3 behind the striker scenario. problem is we go long to cisse when we do this.

Let's rank by goal conversion for last season and see who's at the bottom...

Yes, he is bottom of everyone in the entire league who has scored at least one goal.

2.3% conversion means you can expect a goal for every 43 shots Adel takes.

                              For comparison, you could expect...

Tommy Smith: 1 goal out of 5 shots.

Mackie: 1 goal out of 5 shots.

Park: 1 goal out of 6 shots.

Of course with a higher number of attempts and goals, the conversion rate will fall. That's understandable. The troubling part is that he didn't even score more than those players.

Taarabt scored 2 goals with 88 shots while Smith scored 2 with 10. Mackie scored 7 with 37. Park scored 2 with 12.

The question is why is he so wasteful with possession?

It's quite possible that if Hughes hadn't benched Taarabt, we would've lost against Norwich. Who's to say that if Taarabt had the ball he would've even passed it to Cisse for the chance at winning a penalty. The statistics say he would've taken a shot that was off target.
