  • Just back from Norwich (ish)

    1) While Carrow Road last year was a firecracker atmosphere, today's was pretty tame. By half-time both sides had realised the poverty what was on offer on the pitch, and I've heard louder 20/20 songs. Nothing was particularly original out there - sadly - but then again, nor were the comments "God we're crap" or "Is Hughes going to sort it out?" or "Where in the **** is the midfield?"

    2) Speaking of midfield, had Norwich played under a more adventurous manager, we would have lost that game. We were woeful in the midfield, with Samba Diakite failing to do anything very well all game long, and it was remarked on that he looked weaker and less fit.

    3) Mark Clattenburg was spot on for the penalty (saw it from 5 different angles at half-time), and it was a goddawful challenge by Bassong. Some Norwich fans voiced annoyance that Zamora was 5 yards inside the box when Cisse took the kick, but the Norwich goal seemed offside at the start of the move, so fair's fair.

    4) Otherwise, Clattenburg was crap, failing to blow up play when Mackie was fouled while breaking away, and by making a sea of - how can we put it nicely - eyebrow-raising decisions which simply weren't right. Also, when Grant Holt swears at the lino you're meant to book him, not chat to him. He did that to a few players, actually.

    5) Defensively we look a horror show. Hill was once again dreadful. Onuoha was an improvement when he came on. Fabio was pretty dreadful all game through, getting caught out again and again and again, but Boswinga played well when he came on, looking calm and organised, unlike the other 10 players out there.

    6) Midfield's a joke. We need a stopper and we need him badly. Park looks completely out of position. Good sides will absolutely run through us. Here's to Faurlin playing 90 minutes against Walsall and coming through it.

    7) Attack-wise, Zamora and Cisse looked OK together, particularly when Zamora was needed to tackle back. Cisse's penalty was crap and he managed to get caught offside about 8 times in the second half alone. It was truly irritating to watch.

    8) Coach And Horses a nice pub to go to before and after the game. Good crowd, good pub.

Cisse got the penalty, but should not have taken it. That´s basic stuff,IMO.
