I think most players signed since MH took over have been signed on short contracts (one or two years). I'm not sure but I think only Diakite, Hoilett and maybe Park have longer contracts.

I think you maybe right, Having watched us on saturday looks like we are going to have to chuck more money in certain areas so the concerns are always going to be there due to the players we are trying to sign and how much dough they will want paying. I really hope I am wrong on and proved wrong.

Lets judge it more after sat, if we win 5-0 everybody will be happy and there wont be a problem,i think Swansea was one of those days a bit like fulham last year,we didnt perform, they did, and nearly every time they had a shot it went in. We all new we needed a couple of defenders before last sat so whats the big deal now we are actually trying to rectify it.

1) The aim of the previous owners was to get us into the premier league and then sell the Club for as much as possible.
2) They achieved this, however while doing this they did nothing to develop the Club and a large number of players were really only of Championship standard and also on high wages
3) He (TF) took over the Club at the beginning of the season with only two weeks of the transfer market left. He probably had very little idea of what was needed at this time.
4) In a rush to sign players by the deadline, some poor decisions may (and I say may) have been made.
5) By Christmas he did not feel Warnock could keep the Club in the premier league and so he brought in MH.
6) Again MH had couple of weeks to bring in new players. Also it was January and transfers are always difficult at this time.
7) During the summer time MH has brought in some useful additions to the squad. We (and I am sure MH) knows that we need defenders and he has been working on this. I am sure that this is never easy because good defenders seem to be thin on the ground.
I think they have been bringing in older players (a lot for free and some on loan) because hopefully they will be playing until the Club has had a chance to develop their own talent, which is how the Club existed in the past but has been sadly lacking in recent years.

Also there is absolutely no mention of:
the new training ground and return to academy status so we can bring through youth players,
the complete overhaul of the scouting system with world class scouts to complement the above
Extra revenue brought in by the new telecommunications deal, logistics deal, various match day sponsorship deals, the training kit deal and the extra boost from asia for signing park.
All of the above combined with previous posts are certainly why I am not as worried about the long term future BUT we must stay up this season to get the extra sky money next year

i think if the dawson deal falls through it's no bad thing. it would demonstrate that we have a budget and are not prepared to pay silly money - and dawson doesn't look like being a value for money signing. hoillett however was. park was certainly a good capture, and of course we have diakite. you could also argue that cisse, if he scores well for us this season, will have been a good value signing for us. plus we have held onto some players who will still be useful to us e.g. mackie etc. so overall we have some good successes. the ones i think are not so good...never been impressed with onuoha, lots of talk about his versatility and calibre when we signed him, but simply hasn't delivered. ferdinand hasn't become the kind of player he could be, and i doubt he will reach anywhere near that potential unfortunately. swp had a poor season but may still have something for us this year if his confidence shores up. BZ still has something to prove for me, although in several games last season he did do a job for us, and the jury is still out on AJ, fabio, nelsen and rob green. when we got barton, that was cited as good business as he was on a free regardless of the wages we are paying him, but we have to remember that he was brought in by warnock who has just signed diouf and has a questionable approach to the calibre of player he brings in anyway. imo the club would be better off without barton in the same way that we would never have wanted diouf in a rangers shirt...come on you r's!

Current Wage Bill
According to Tony our wage bill at this moment in time is less than the end of the season- we have also only spent £1.5m, but I think this was already well known. Just goes to show how big the contracts were we handed out to people like Hall, Ramage, Cook, Vine etc.
He's also been getting the usual amount of stick from a few of our fans and some Chelsea fans on Twitter. Fair play to him though, he never dodges a question or issue and always gives them an answer, often a very good one too.
