  • Pre Season

Does anybody think that our Pre Season could have been better?

I think it was a great experience for the players to go to Asia. However I feel there should have been more pre season matches in the UK. There were no matches at Loftus Road and so the new players found themselves playing there as club players for the first time last Saturday. This could hardly have felt like a home ground to some of them.

Poor opposition in Asia, we needed to be tested more.

Couldn't have pre season at Loftus Road because of the Olympics, same as the rest of the London clubs. Also we will reap the financial benefits of the Asian tour in the next few years!!

Don't think Pre-Season has a lot to do with it tbh.........those games are only there to try and gel the players a little, and check out tactical changes and formations imo.

We shouldn't have risked our preparation at the expense of marketing. Fans are not bought but you need to attract them.

Yes, it could have been better. Nothing wrong with going out to Asia, but games that worked the players a bit harder could have played.

I also think that perhaps in future different pre season games can be played for the 16-18 who are likely to be 1st team regulars, and the others who are not likely to be included often, playing other matches. i.e no real need for the likes of Ephraim, Bothroyd, Harriman, Doughty, Ehmer to play they could have played in games alongside Helguson, Campbell, Hulse Smith Connolly Cerny etc, but against some reasonably decent league 1 & 2 opposition like Brentford, Wycombe & Aldershot.

This would have meant the regulars could work better in units and at tactics whilst still giving the others good workouts in pre season.

Per season nothing to do with it, teams do these sort of tours all the time

Exactly. Utd, Chelsea etc do such tours most years these days, pretty standard - everybody's trying to raise profiles overseas.
