  • Have the Club changed the way they record the attendances this season?

As we all know there were a lot of empty seats in the away end last Saturday yet the published attendance figure for the match was 18,072 when the actual number of bums on seats was around 17,000. It seems that the Club have changed the way they record attendances, as last year I am sure the published attendance would have been a lot less. What is going on?

Based on ticket sales - and we sold both tiers to Swansea because they wanted them = if they don't have enough takers they still have to pay the money. If we declared a number that doesn't match the ticket sales there would be an enquiry of some sort - either from the Inland Revenue, the PL or someone - perhaps even Norwich who still think we should be punished over FaurlinGate

Not quite true, the attendace was over 18k, sometimes looking at empty seats can be illusional or appear greater than they actually are, in fact we have sold more this year than last years attendace which suggests we are going the correct way forward.

Thanks for clearing that up. However, last season when the away team only took the upper tier, if there were empty seats in that portion of the stadium that seemed to be reflected in the published attendance figure.

It does seem that it has changed, before it was actual attendance figure taken from people through turnstiles, also boxes and VIP. Now it appears to be tickets sold (incl st holders whether they turn up or not) which although gives an incorrect figure looks better when published.

I wonder if they are the answer to the lower loft only selling tickets to adults accompanying a junior, they could buy the individual seats that don't sell out as no one will really no the difference.
