I don't think people are taking the moral high ground Dave.....All people wanted from Joey Barton was to keep his head down and put in some consistent performances for the R's....

He hasn't done that thus far and because his pride has been hurt (no squad number etc) Mr. self destruct will come to the fore again and he will proceed to burn his bridges at Loftus Rd.

I still would love for him to shut the f**k up and actually play some football but he seems incapable of it.....!:=):

If a violent loss of temper was unprecedented before he joined us you might have had a point. Unfortunately his personal and football career is littered with them. You cannot just take him on what he has done here, much as that might simplify things.

Actually, with regard to how he's treated / disciplined etc under the employment of QPR football club you have to simplify it by taking him on what he's done here. You can't take into account anything he did previously.

All this talk of us sacking him etc after the incident were ludicrous and any such event would be thrown out at any emplyment tribunal and it would be constructive dismissal... ie we didnt have a leg to stand on for such a scenario.

qpr signed him when know one wanted to know,put him on bloody good money ,made him captain when know one wanted to know.blokes got an ego that far out exceeded his talent,dont get me wrong when he came to us i for one was well made up, as on his day the blokes as good as the best out there.problem is the man is faulty, his ecu has a chip burnt out and its beyond repairable. so lets say bon voyage monsieur plankton. go pack the trouble and strife,the bin lids,your twitter account,your toon army replica shirt and last but not least that massive fuking ego, big suitcase needed, and go and re invent yourself as a stand up comedian,i mean member of society somewhere else.

One thing we need to say about Joey, love him or hate him, he was the first through the door and i'm sure if it weren't for him buying into the owners vision, some of the others may not have given us a 2nd thought... He was a marquee signing of sorts at the time and although he's maybe not met expectations on the pitch, i do believe by signing he helped us secure other decent players thereafter.

Also if sacked you cant claim constructive dismissal his claim in tort would be breach of contract. And on that last point I am afraid the club had an unassailable case in its defence. The fact that he has accepted the punishment against him would tend to suggest it, you can be sure his legal advisors told him to take the hit because to not do so would allow the club to tear up the contract and save far greater sums of money. His conduct of bringing the club into disrepute, of lying about what other players said and breach of trust and mutual confidence would fall under the general heading of gross misconduct. Any employer if the charges are proven and by his own admissions they were, would be within their legal rights to proceed to termination of contract without compensation.

It has already been stated several times that contracts in football are not the same as normal works contracts. I'm sure the club checked into this and found that they were not able just to sack Barton.
