  • Matt Connolly and Tommy Smith

What kind of players are we getting out of these 2 ? I know a little about Smith and dont think he will be that good an addition, Possibly good backup.
I dont really know a lot about Connolly if im honest. I remember him being tall and quite quick in your promotion winning season. Think he could be a good backup to Turner and Hudson for us.
Helgusons looking a top signing for us, leading the line well in his lone striker role but had a quiet game against Huddersfield but still managed to out leap everyone and crash a header against the bar, then went and set up our winner
Thanks in advance for your replies, prob get a little abuse off the usuals ;)

Mason is right. Both top Championship players. Connolly was abit of a scapegoat for some on here, but he was at the herat of the best defence in the football league the year we came up - says it all for me.
Smith a very clever footballer that reads a game well, very capable of chipping in with a few goals too.
If you get both of these you'll be doing very well for yourself.

I really & I mean really do not like Matt Connolly at all, not one bit but he has won 2 Championship titles in a row so he can't be that bad I guess.

Tommy Smith is a cracking player, a real good player who would get into any side in the Championship, very good signing Smith
          Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
          And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

I think Smith is a very underrated player and will always be grateful for the goal against Watford. Connolly is a bit like a rabbit in the headlights (if Robert Green was a centre back)

Fancy cardiff to do well and feel a bit sorry for them as their owners seem to want to rip the clubs traditions away from them. Good luck.

Agree with the comments above - Smith is underrated. Good enough for a place on the bench with many of the lower placed prem teams IMO. Definitely a good buy at Championship level. Scored a couple of crackers in the prem for us last year. Good football brain, just lacks a bit of pace for a player who plays in his position.

Connolly is just very inconsistent. Seen him have some cracking games, but some 'mares as well. No doubt a decent championship defender though.

Smith is a decent championship player. A confident Connolly would be a good championship CB. Not a RB or CM as he's been played by a few QPR managers over the years. Managed correctly they would both be good players for Cardiff.

I think if Smith had pace he would be in our 25. A very tidy player who rarely gives the ball away and if he played week in week out would bag 10 goals a season

I am not Connors biggest fan think he is a little lightweight and can get pushed about better at right back then the centre
