May as well start off controversially!

I dont think that continuous news signings are the answer to our probelms.

We have literally signed hundres of players since we were taken over in the belief that money would always buy success. But look at the examples of Norwich and especially Swansea who completely our performed us by carefully building a team and squad on more of a budget. Yesterday was the perfect example of that. How much more money have we spent than swansea? and with what sucess?

In contrast any time we need to improve the kneejerk reaction from the board and most of our fans is BUY MORE PLAYERS SPEND MORE MONEY

How can we expect to build a solid TEAM if we sign 7 or 8 new players every window?!
Sounds like you'd agree with Dave McIntyre if you read his Twitter argument with Paul Morrissey yesterday.

You speak sense Cookie Monster. Hughes should get the best out of the defenders we already have (they've all proved at other clubs they are decent) instead of just buying new ones
We're Queens Park Rangers and we always do things the hard way!

Well yeah obviously. The point being the content, not that they were arguing.

We need to get to the stage where we have a quality squad and only have to add 1 or 2 if we need to. We arn't at the stage to stop buying yet.

Agreed. And one of the new signings must be a decent backup goalie. Green will thrive on competiton, I think. Have to say, I still have faith in him though.

I saw David McIntyre's comments- he is right, a club should build and not buy, but at the moment we are in no position to do this.He has an incredibly negative view on almost everything that happens at the club and the more I read of his, the more I realise how depressing he is..........anyway.

The fact is we do sign far too many players and I have to say that really only 2 or 3 have actually been a success IMO since TF joined. I hope with Mike Rigg involved we will make smarter signings, but we can't carry on the way we are at the moment.

We need to sign 1 CB, we've needed one all summer- then we are done and it's down to Hughes to manage and get the best out the players and squad he has largely assembled.

build not buy needs to be the long-term mantra and looking at the non-playing staff, that seems to be where we will be headed.

at the moment, we need defenders - anyone who has been looking at potential 25-man squads based on current playing staff can spot that we've got enough midfielders, maybe need an extra attacker (although we probably have enough attack-minded midfielders for this not to be a priority area) but probably lacking two strong defenders (i'm not sure that we can properly cover injuries and suspensions at the moment).

on saturday, there was a lack of defensive-minded players all over the place. park is a fine player, but playing faurlin and diakite in the centre would have given the defence a lot more protection. in my view, faurlin's absence is our big problem. i'm not sure that a front four of cisse, mackie, taarabt and hoilett is sensible - we need more balance. in defence, fabio needs to concentrate on defensive duties first and be more positionally disciplined when he does go forward - we have enough flair players without him chasing after the ball all over the shop.

Of course more signings are the answer We have to give Swansea credit for their game on Saturday the conditions [heat] suited their game plan more than ours and they stuck to it ,last season we ran them into the ground they couldn't live with us and like Muppets we thought we could do same in the heat, this time we ran ourselvles into the ground .
So we do need 1 or 2 more signings we had no captain on Sat nobody to understand our game was going wrong in the conditions, what type of player would do, we need asap a solid 25 year old Sean Derry a holding M/fielder with a good understanding of the game someone who has the respect of his fellow teamates ,and a comanding C/H

I missed the twitter argument? But I do think David Mcintyre is usually very good. I know hes cynical, but I think we need that people like Paul Morrissey and others are paid full time to positevly spin for the club. No harm in someone trying to not buy into the hype and give a opposite view.

But every transfer window we've signed 8+ players. Has this always radically improved how good our squad is? Generally not

I would argue that althiugh I think your right about us getting the game plan wrong. Swansea have a core team that they have slowly built on and added too. In comparison to us who try and revolutionise our squad every transfer window. Swanseas players were smarrlty bought because they fit the swansea system and it worked well! They fitted in straight away. Our players Didnt seem to have a cohesive shape or understanding. Arguably because we try and do too much every window.

If we want to stay in the prem time is of the essence ,we do need a strong combative holding m/fielder and a powerful C/H ,Faulin is definite miss but can we wait for him to get back to his old self
