They kept the solid core of their team and got a system that worked around the core pplayers they had and slowly built on it. Surely thats a model that makes more sense to emulate? Its a team game. So much is down to shape, understanding and tactics.
We havn't been a stable club for long enough to do what Swansea did with there defence. Different managers and owners in and out. Managers want there own players. Warnock signed some usless defenders like Gabidon and OBVIOUSLY Hughes wants better. Hughes is now a stable manager at our club and is building HIS team. Once he has finished building they will jel and we will have a stable core of a team for a few years.

Well if everyone felt like that why was everyone so confident we'd beat Swansea?

Fair play... I can sympathise with that argument. Like I said in another post Id happily almost gurantee Hughes a job for 5 years.

But I feel we have a decent squad now.

I was being abit provocative, But it seemed like everytime we loose everyone decides all out players a rubbish and we need to sign a whole new team.

Well i wasnt expecting out back 5 to turn into 5 headless chickens who looked like they where playing for hayes and yeading in the blue square south, actually thats a bit of an unjustice for them, they could of been more organiced.

I would love Hughes to be guaranteed for 5 years, but I disagree that our squad is good enough. Over this year I would like a 2 CB's, a CM and a younger striker. Once we have those things we shouldn't really have to dip into the transfer market properly for a few years.

I also agree that everyone seems to over react every time we loose and say that EVERYONE is rubbish which is wrong

Well I suppose its what we want to achieve this season that defines "good enough".
Hughes seems very confident that we've done enough buisness to comfortably stay up. And I have no reason to think hes got it all wrong.
So if thats the case, I dont see the massive rush for the new signings people are calling for (especially CMs?)

Us QPR fans have got greedy. Remeber the days when transfer windows were basically "will we sell Lee Cook?!"
Lets relax abit and understand that the club cant and shouldnt just keep making so many news signings so often.

Ok we need to add the defenders, CM and striker to finish as a good mid-table team. The squad we have is easily good enough not to get relegated but everyone at the club wants more than that this year. The aim as all new signings and the owners have said is 10th and I don't think our current team can do that which is why we still need some signings. Think we need a CM because Derry isn't premier league standard, Park is a RM and Faurlin is a little way off being fit. That only really leaves us with Diakite and what if he got injured?

I hope that we really splash the cash over the next 2 weeks, get some good players in and then we can just settle the team for 2 or 3 years. Or until the new stadium.

Does Hughes seem confident? He said in an interview he still wanted to bring players in.

Many QPR fans have stated the need to sign a centre back, simply because it's needed. We've strengthened our attacking options substantially. Whilst not bringing in that level of quality of defender. Would you agree with that?

He seems pretty confident to me: http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/e...s-tells31-fans
This was before Swansea though haha

I also remeber a quote that I cba to find about him promising that the club would "never be in this position again" (i.e. battling relegation) while he was manager

Look. Im not against signin a CB. I think we still could before the window cloases. What Im trying to point out is taht too often the reaction of our fans to doing badly is WE NEED TO SIGN MORE PLAYERS which I dont think is very healthy of a football club. Especially one of our size.

99% of the time I would totally agree with you. Lots of fans react stupidly! But for once I don't think the result effected peoples opinion. All summer people have said defence needs sorting. But I trust Hughes and he will sort the defence out and we will finish mid table and its a very exciting time to support QPR. its just a working progress atm

Thread from earlier has the interview from Sparky, and a little discussion on what we'd want from signings.

I can see your point, but many fans have been wanting the club to bring in a centre back of the calibre of the players we have in attacking positions ie. Cisse, Hoilett, Park. Yet none have arrived.

Sparky is saying he wants more players in, and so of course people are going to be frantic that he absolutely must bring in a centre back. Also, regarding your quote about relegation. Sparky also said we'd never get spanked again. And yet we did, first game of the season.

You'll find I'm very level-headed and am not prone to knee jerk reactions, as you'll see by my many posts both prior to and after the game. Also read this thread I wrote earlier.

Haha. Sorry if I was splittin hairs abit.
Who knows? maybe a CB was top of the summer list and things just havent quite worked out yet.
Maybe Hughes thought Hill and Anton worked really hard in preseason and combined with their great performances at the end of last season waranted them some loyalty and gave them a chance (which I would have comepletely appproved of)
Theres lots of things we just dont know.
But its good to know theres otehr fans who trust Hughes too.

I think it was top of the list but a great CB is tricky to find and expensive but one WILL come in over the next 2 weeks. I don't comment very much on forums because you come up against a fair few muppets but this is finally a sensible thread with people with decent opinions.
A few more players and I hope we will have a team to be very excited about over the coming years!

                              Yeah... fair enough mate.

Like I said above... There could be a number of reasons we havent signed a CB yet. And if we are going to bring more people in. They will probably be a CB. So people should be even more calm.

But I think we'd stay up without signing one anyway so theres no MASSIVE urgency. It probably aint life and death.

I stand by the original point. That simply continually buying new players wont solve our problems and is deeply unhealthy for not a very big club. But I dont think you really disagree with me bout that.

Just thought i'd let you know sparky has been given the money to strengthen the defense as far as i'm aware, wouldn't surprise me to see one cb come in perm and one on loan, and a cm, heck we even need a striker, from what i was told earlier he has the funds to sign people, some people also dont realise that you dont just phone up lets say swansea 'yea danny grahame 5 mil' they go 'yea, sorted he's yours', deals take time to be sorted and finalise which people sometimes forget (not aiming this at anyone that has commented on this post as we all seem to know what we are talking about)
