  • More New Signings Arent The Solution!

    Hello!
Been lurking for a long time and thought it was time to throw my two pence in.

May as well start off controversially!

I dont think that continuous news signings are the answer to our probelms.

We have literally signed hundres of players since we were taken over in the belief that money would always buy success. But look at the examples of Norwich and especially Swansea who completely our performed us by carefully building a team and squad on more of a budget. Yesterday was the perfect example of that. How much more money have we spent than swansea? and with what sucess?

In contrast any time we need to improve the kneejerk reaction from the board and most of our fans is BUY MORE PLAYERS SPEND MORE MONEY

How can we expect to build a solid TEAM if we sign 7 or 8 new players every window?!

That deffense is the same that won 5 home games on the bounce last season. Against superior opposition. Im not saying you cant improve the squad. But im saying we've never built and developed a team. Yes out net spend is (technically) only 1.5mil but weve signed 8(?) players many of which on big big wages. Much bigger than our rivals and where has it got us?

nope, we need to sign a centre back or two

most manager who build a new team starti with the back four 1st, well in our case hughes didn't do that, he's was more worries getting midfielders in

i did, before we lost yesterday i still felt the need for another striker, maybe a cm, and 1 or 2 cb's, been crying for them all pre-season

It's a fair point, and if we're honest, it's one that we all must have thought about. We've been most active club now three windows in a row.

We've got ourselves into a cycle at the moment, where we haven't had a manager and owner in tandem for a significant period. New owner has meant a spate of signings, and a new manager is usually met with another splash into the market.

We have managed to do this, and yet still leave ourselves short at the back. I'd suggest that we could probably get by with one CB signing now, and barring injury try and have a settled squad for the rest of the season.

We won't though, we'll lose some players for the African Cup of Nations and we'll probably make a couple of signings then too.

I agree. Ever since the club has had access to big money QPR fans have reacted to every set-back with the same refrain: we need to sign better players.

Well what about getting the players who are already on the books to play as an effective team?

One more signing preferably a CB. Then no more for another season and even then bring in 1 or 2 IF desperately needed. We need stability within the team. No good having an entirely different team every couple of seasons.

Finally the club has settled. A settled management and board If we got a couple of quality CB's, maybe a CM and a striker in during this window and January then we won't have to be talking about who to sign every summer. We need to get to the stage where we have a quality squad and only have to add 1 or 2 if we need to. We arn't at the stage to stop buying yet.

Take swansea as the example. Their two centre backs last season were Monk (who they signed in league one) and Williams who they signed in the championship. Yet they conceeded 51 goals last season (pretty decent) conmpared to our 66. Now that was mainly due to the way they played as a team. They didnt rush out and but supposidly premier league individuals like Ferdinand and expect immediate results. They kept the solid core of their team and got a system that worked around the core pplayers they had and slowly built on it. Surely thats a model that makes more sense to emulate? Its a team game. So much is down to shape, understanding and tactics.

they passed it around like ******s, this season i can see them letting in alot more goals lol, if we had a better defense and could score yesterday we would of shat on them and maybe even flipped the result the other way
