  • Pre Season

Can't help thinking weve gained nothing from that tour of Asia playing against no hopers. We should of been playing teams who would of tested us and got the defence used to defending and playing with each other. Even against Trabzonspor and Augsburg we looked very shaky defensively and now after todays result we are back to having to chop and change our defenders.

I posted a thread about this earlier, which was for some reason moved into a thread about todays match...

Basically playing rubbish teams we beat with ease even with kids in the side is no preparation for the prem. We basically got caught with our pants down today and it was too many schoolboy errors by us leading to most of their goals. Shocking!

i personally think we didnt play enough games as it was only our last pre season game last wknd & hughes was still experimenting with players & formations. this should of been done before & the last last friendly should be the 11 who were set to start today, so could of done with a couple of more to do this.

Look at Warnock & his pre seasons

Pits his teams against weak opposition mainly for confidence, the winning feeling instilled & fitness. I think that's the right way to go personally.

Don't think this had much to do with what was a very succesful tour I think its more down to the fact our defence is not much better than an upper championship sides defence.

Yeah the defence is a weakness and you have to ask how much of a workout did they get in pre season..... Not much.
