I think appointing the skipper is a real opportunity which a lot of clubs don't take that seriously. A skipper can be inspirational, I'd love some of that instead of a 'token' skipper. Needs to be someone whose name is one of the first on the team sheet. If Clint was 100% certain starter each week he'd be the man. But sooner or later things are going to change in that department so its a tricky call.

Barton, for all his flaws, was a natural leader.
There's no stand-out candidate in the current squad. The only ones are Derry or Hill but there not guaranteed starters so wouldn't qualify.

i think maybe nelson for club captain, i dont know ale so not sure how assertive he is, but im always impressed by his attitude, he just gets on with it.
if he gets a foul he stays up, he takes refs decisions fair or not, if assertive could he be captain on field. (but wouldnt mind JB back one day too)
