With TF meeting Phil Beard, Hughes and the management team today, it could maybe be to try and close off a couple of deals?
For me, with the signing of one commanding CB, we go from a 15-20th place side with a bit of a suspect looking defence to a comfortable mid table side. Which is why I think we'll get someone.
I doubt they will go straight in as Captain though. I think it will be Nelsen, Park or Anton personally.
No way would a brand new signing walk into the Club this week and start on Saturday, let alone as captain. Not even if it was Chris Samba for example.
Disagree, it happened with Barton. It could just be the carrot to dangle in front of a high profile player. Of course, I am not saying that is going to happen, just playing devil's advocate.

Whatever happened last season is not a comparison for the norm though - and we don't have the same man in charge now. Hughes believes 100% in team spirit and unity and simply wouldn't sign one on Friday and put him in the team the next day with the arm band on. Can you imagine, with the senior players he has in the squad, how it would stir the pot if that happened now?

Mark Hughes has revealed to us today that the identity of #QPR's new captain won't be known until Saturday at 2.50pm! #QPR #GuessingGame
Reading this does anyone else get the impression Sparky really just told the press guy to fk off and leave him alone

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

The one thing we have all overlooked is the fact that the 25 man squads don't have to be submitted and relied upon until the transfer window closes at the end of August. Maybe Hughes is still hoping to bring in a face that fits the bill before the deadline............or maybe he will not decide on a final choice until the squad has to be fixed?

quite possible.
I said the other week though, of the current squad i fully expect Ryan Nelsen will start regularly and he will be made Captain. There are reasons against others, but not him if he's here to play, which i expect he is.
