    Andy Johnson

We haven't spoken about him much and I had a good look at him at Wycombe for the 25-30 mins he was on.

    3 things stood out.

    1) He still has bundles of pace. I debated with my 10 year old and he thinks Johnson is even quicker than Cisse, I wasn't sure but there isn't much in it.
    2) He is always on the shoulder of the last man and gambles more than Cisse, for example. He could win us more pens and create more chances
    3) It was clear to see his understanding with Zamora, this is something that needs work with other players.

Would I start him over Cisse? I don't think so but only because I wouldn't start Zamora either. With Zamora? Definitely!

Johnson will be an important player for us next season.

i agree. He can be our "suprise"player this season. I have a feeling that he might get 5-10 goals this season and he's not a automatic starter. Might be a little bit optimistic, but just have feeling that he might be useful player this season

Well now is the time to impress, but the form book does not lie. Both Zamora and Johnson have very poor recent goal/game ratios. Zamora occasionally puts in a shift but is totally inconsistent, and Johnson is a shadow of his younger self. Never mind the superstars waiting in the wings, ie DJ Hulse Betty.

God help us if Cisse is out.

I was gutted when he joined us

Reckon DJ and Heidar have much more to offer then AJ

When watching the Wycombe match all I notcied with AJ is that he runs a lot but dont do much else

As a striker you would expect him to get goals but these are his stats for the past few years

        2011–12 14 App 3 Goals

        2010–11 27 App 3 Goals

        2009–10 8 App 0 Goals
Very poor scoring record for a striker

Never liked it when MH bought him, I've looked at his scoring record at fulham and it's terrible 13 goals in 86 games!!!

          Terrible injury record as well!!!

He needs to get goals to win me over simple as,.... 10 to 15 bare minimum, and at this moment can't see it.

Gonna put my neck on the line & say I think he'll get us at least 8 goals.

I know his record isn't amazing but I have a real hunch he's gonna be a little gem for us off the bench.

his pace will open up defences with the likes of Adel threading through pinpoint passes

An interesting range of views above. His goal scoring stats haven't been impressive since 09 but he hasn't had a great run of games to breed full match fitness, understanding with team mates & confidence in front of goal.

Can anyone find his team contribution/assist stats in the same periods?

Clearly many people have chosen to forget the quality of AJ's movement at the Cottage last season. Admittedly it might have reflected more on the frailties of our defence that day, but the intelligence of his runs pulled us all over the place.
If Hughes can motivate him to play consistently at that level, he will do just fine.

Didnīt we talk about runs in the right channels here aswell? He seems to be very good at that. Besides, he is not at Fulham any longer. A move to QPR and his old manager can very well do him good.Overall, I was very impressed with him last night.

PS. It looks like Hughes is still in the market for a striker(?) according to another thread on this forum today. Source: Westlondon sport.
