  • Will you keep him?

Yes he would be a super sub. Great header.

Yes, I'd definitely have him on the bench rather than Jay Bothroyd.

If I could get a top notch player in then no...at his age it ain't fair to keep him in the reserves.

        No

LOVE the man but he's 35, pretty battle worn & won't be much good to us on the injury table. We have moved on now in the calibre of player our squad needs.

Will leave with very fond memories.

Yes - if no suitable (like for like and younger) replacement is being lined up as he is good cover for BZ and can still play the lone striker role better than any other reserve we have.
No - if the younger model is lined up.

Agree. If it is a choice of him or Bothroyd it has to be Helguson. But if a younger option is joining then let him go and have a final shot with Cardiff.

Helguson done really well for the last couple of seasons but I think we should let him go now. As much as I appreciate his efforts I think there are better strikers out there.

I'd like to keep Heidar and prefer him to Betty, but Heidar missed half the season through injury and he could be at the age now where he's not fit for selection a lot of the time so it's time to move on. We will be signing another striker though so it wouldn't surprise me to see Heidar, Betty, DJ and Hulse all leave.

I think it is more a question of whether he wants to stay if he is not going to be playing regularly.

                    no

done great things, but we need to get used to saying goodbye to some good players over the next few years. he's not likely to play very often, he's knocking on a bit and we've got a lot of competition for spaces in our 25 squad. we're short on defenders at the moment, not on attacking players.

I think you've hit the nail on the head Ric. Helgusson is shot to bits, I think he did well to come back from the last injury but surely the next major knock he picks up will be the end of him. If Cardiff or anyone else wants to take over the last year of his contract then we need to let him go.

Its funny how there were people complaining about all the "old" players we have signed or linked with recently and then question whether we should let go a 35 year old who has had his fair share of injuries. Don't get me wrong he will leave with great memories but if we want to achieve greater things, these players need to go. Could make a case that he wouldn't make the 25 man squad now, nevermind the fact we are still in the market for 1 or 2.

If he ends up at cardiff, not sure i will wish him too well in the future!!
