Joey Barton has threatened to sue national newspaper the Daily Star.

The controversial footballer posted a series of messages today on Twitter in response to an article from the publication suggesting he is worried about having gained weight since the end of the football season.

I've seen his timeline if you back you see him posting a picture of Iraqi kids getting tortured to this Asian bloke saying I hope this happens to you an your family ect. The guy is vile he does it to get followers just hurls abuse at everyone .ge should be banned from twitter however I do find it funny the twitter wars that go on it is just pathectic .

There was also later stuff where - having tweeted to Daley that he was sorry - followed it up by some pretty strong abuse and saying he was going to drown him. There is an argument you can have a thick skin to to all that and ignore it, but also that you get your collar felt if you deliberately seek someone out to harrass, subject them to abuse and threats for your own pleasure.
