Remember when cisse picked up a knock on Asian tour? How was we all then where is our goals going to come from aj? Bit of a gamble rarely scores Zamora not a goal scorer hold up man. We need that goalscorer a long with cisse. Only issue I have is all our strikers are above 30 if I'm right we need a young striker 20-25 problem is a decent striker that age will normally set you back a fair wack.

He is the most natural goal scorer England have at the moment, very quick trigger inside the box, not so stunning from long range, but lethal from within the width of the posts inside the box. With AJ, BZ,DC,JD, my word that is a forward line to be proud of, still cant see it though.

The Adebayor rumour probably has something to do with this. We probably said something along the lines of, "look we are after Ade, so are you. If you let us have Defoe we'll withdraw from bidding for Ade" This scenario has happened before...

Guys Defoe is a class signing he's a natural goal scorer and if played week in week out he will score 15 + comfortably - 4 strikers aj Zamora cisse and Defoe is sensational for us! If we can sign another cb and dm i really think top 10 might be in reaching distance!

he is 30 for gods sake,and he hasnt had much football over the last couple of seasons due to sitting on the bench.He is one of the best finishers about and absolutely somebody who we should get. Against the big boys we will prob go 4-5-1 but against the rest we should be capable of taking the game to them and winning so a 4-4-2 would be the formation,i think CISSE & DEFOE would frighten most if not all defences.

I'm actually in disbelief that some are saying no! Defoe is one of the best natural goalscorers there is in the premier league. People need to remember there is no sentiment in football and it's a good thing other wise we'd be going nowhere!! We need 4 decent strikers if we want to push on and having Zamora, Cisse, Johnson and Defoe is certainly decent.

That would leave DJ, Betty, Heider, and Hulse all as back up and it doesn't take a genius to work out these aren't 'decent' premier league strikers. DJ and Hulse haven't played a part in pre-season and we're looking to offload desperately and also Betty and Heidar will be allowed to leave should an offer come in.

People need to wake up and realise we're moving forward massively as a club and there is going to be a lot of players leaving towards the end of the window but we need to bring in new players first in case we don't get who we want. Also people saying we're not in for another striker, we are! The offer for Giroud proves we're after a marquee centre forward, links to Adebayor and Berbatov etc.

Sit back, relax and stop being sentimental and believe in the powers that be. We're going places and quickly!!!

Name A N Other forward (who may be available obviously the Messi's & Rooneys are not) who is as natural a player as Defoe is !!

£ 9 m is the going rate for a FIRST CLASS out and out striker even if he is 30 yrs old !!

If Defoe , Cisse and Junior could fire us into Europe and give us a decent cup run (for a change) then coupled with our ever building Global brand etc then £ 9 m would be a snip !!

Fully justified in my opinion rather than going for someone like Jordan Rhodes for £ 5 m say !!

Some on here would have you believe their spending THIR OWN money !!!

For years we have been craving being in a position to sign THE BEST AVAILABLE on TOP CLASS forwards and now some are saying its too much . FFS !!!!!

Let Tony , Amit and Phil worry about the finances .....They know a lot more about what could , should or is value for money and whether we are in a position to spend big or not !!!

seriously JD is obviously a better bet than Zamora / Aj / Dj etc etc etc. I never understood why we were loading up with ageing, immobile forwards with dubious goal stats. If Defoe does sign, can we have a yard sale? I'll take Helga to do a spot of labouring.

oh and re finances - it would be naive to trust anyone, the most important thing is that the club itself does not start incurring debt. That is a space we'll need to watch, especially if/when the move deal happens.
