We see very small amounts of requests fail with 502 errors. Typically 5 requests in 10000000 fail in this manner. Due to the infrequency of the problems its been tough to try and nail the issue down...

I have adjusted the size of some buffers on the server to see if this helps...

It seems to affect mobile style more than desktop style looking at the logs, however the issue isnt 100% tied either way.

Just looked at the total number of 502 errors since the site was hosted by me... Looks like my old calculation is a bit off since the new software is causing more of these errors :-/ Still tracking it down is like a needle in a haystack so far...

Still the amount of errors is absolutly tiny in proportion to the total website traffic.

I have had this problem before on the iMac on Chrome , and usually a browser restart does the trick. Never had it occur on a mobile device.

However, telling someone who is having the problem, that it doesn't happen very often, is massively irritating. If you know it happens, but don't know quite what's causing it, the user will understand, even more so if you have a workaround. I hate customer service that gets defensive.

Having said that, this is a free service, and we can't complain too much if it isn't perfect.

Cut him some slack, at least he did not suggest re-installing Windows, which actually happened to me once when the local broadband service provider went into denial about their cr@ppy modem malfunctioning
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:
