      • I keep reading things suggesting that Ki Sung-Yeung has to do 18 months military service before he reaches age 29 (quite a while off yet) and that a medal at the London Olympics might get him off having to do it. Any truth?

£6m will do a lot of talking to a Scottish club, and Ki himself wants to play in the EPL. The choice is, to play in the world's biggest and most exciting league for a London team, or play in the SPL for a Glasgow team. No competition.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

          • We should also take into consideration that park is most likely his idol. The biggest Korean footballer ever and he could have a chance to play alongside him.

He has until 29 to do the military service so there is time for the rules to change. Yes he officially has to do 18 months military service but this is constantly being debated. If he decides to stay in the UK he does not have to do the service, but I can't imagine the Koreans would want him to do that.

You may be right but why would our ITK'ers know more than theirs? Personally I hope he comes but then again I won't lose any sleep if he does not.

It is true however even a bronze could get him off from the military duty mate.

Plus Asian cup in 2013 is another chance for him to be a freeman.

We all know South Korea is the strongest in Asia. it will be piece of cake being the winner.

and of course in 2014 if u get into top 8 or 4 then its also the case.

I take it playing in the quarter finals of the last Asian cup did not count.

I'd imagine they'll play hard ball til they crash out of the Champions League to Helsinki. Probably get him cheaper that way too, since by then I'd imagine a lot of sponsors will have pulled out of the Scottish Pointless League and the loss of the Champions League money will be a devastating blow.

                        • Bonheurjh - Where did you hear this by the way?
                          Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                          And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

There was an interesting article in a recent edition of When Saturday Comes discussing this exact issue. Was related to the Arsenal player Park Chu-Young. Lawyers for the player who are familiar with the finer points of military law have been able to secure an 8 year delay on entering into service. He is I understand just turned 27yrs and apparently he now has until he is 35yrs old to start his time ! The maximum time you can delay is for 10yrs, but you have to join up by the age of 35yrs. One is normally expected to start conscription by the age of 28yrs. If you are a professional player and sign up and not defer, you can be assigned to the K-Leagues army team who from 2013 will play in the country's second tier. Apparently there is not much public sympathy for allowing players to be totally exempt and not serving their country, so this is a way out without upsetting any one. This is only something I've read so I hope it is factual. Hope this might help out there.

                              • Celtic should sell him and a couple of others, use the cash to off set the loss in revenue from Rangers not being in the SPL for 4 years at least. Even if celtic lose Ki and Hooper they will still romp the SPL
