Hands up if I am wrong, but you won't see them passing/walking by the springbok again.

If it was simply banter, than they would not have asked to find alternative ways of leaving the ground. "break a leg" comment may have been said within earshot of Fitz hall and not shouted, as your right I was not there.

I have been there many times after games and players do get abused.

In future give me time to answer, my English is bad at the best of times and having to respond quickly does not help.

It came from one of the players, who are getting pretty pished off with all the abuse they are getting verbally after games. Thats all.

I was on the same side of the road as the fans, and a lot nearer to any comments than Fitz Hall was.
Anything aimed at him would have had to been shouted for him to hear.
There was NOTHING about breaking his legs. And nothing nasty shouted at any other player.

But I agree, the players should not be walking past a pub full of drunk fans after a game. It's asking for this sort of cr*p.
The shame is that some people just automatically believe it and pass judgement when it''s posted on the net, and they don't have a clue what they're on about.

Freedom of expression and info is good but ..... Personally, I think football was far better off before the internet came along.
Divides more than it unites, that's for sure.

They have to walk past the pub to get to their cars.
Why should they have to walk around the White City estate to avoid their own fans?
If we started supporting our players, maybe they'll want to spend more time with us - and more importantly, play better for us.
We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are...

But a mixture of football and alcohol does funny things to people, and it's just asking for this kind of thing.

In an ideal world, the fans would be flocking around their heroes with bulging autograph books, and placing flowers around their necks, before running home to excitedly tell their mum or wife how Fitz and The Gang actually spoke to them, while doing little excitement wees..... but a lot of these people are stirred up by what they've just seen, added to 15 pints of Stella, and in some cases - what they've read on the net.

I walked past the the Springbok on Saturday and got dog's abuse hurled at me from my mates.

They asked when I was gonna come in and buy them all a f***ing drink?

I won't be passing there again... They won't let me.:(

                    Perspective check here please.

I was outside the Springbok and don't mind admiting to shouting a few things.

Here's a run down of what ACTUALLY happened:

                    1. Helguson walks past with his Missus (not misses) holding 3 pairs of boots. A comment was made about taking the boots to the blacksmiths tohave the triangle toe taken out but HH never heard it and looked to be rowing with his bird who may well of been on him 1st goalscorer.... she weren't bad by the way but the white jeans don't do it for me!!!!!!!

                    2. Vine went past and as reported it was all chin up viney etc.

                    3. Legs goes past and is asked when are you back we need you etc and was full of smiles.

                    4. Routledge went past - few things said and someone made a crack about cramp on the hour mark but it was in jest and WR grinned back. Someone asked if he was a youth player and what did he want to be when he grew up -- again all in jest and grins all round.

                    5. Borrowdale goes past and EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE gave him an ovation and sang his name.

                    6. Fitz Hall and the Big Up Crew next to saunter past. A regular poster on here (who is probably in a coffee shop in Orange land now) sarcastically said "Aint you injured yet Fitz". Fitz grabs his own nuts and mouthed "You'll be injured soon" with hisbest menacing look and finger jab --- that could've escalated but on he went. I heard no more.
I believe Ageymang was at the front of this lot and someone was joking about his shirt or something - no more than that.

                    7. The Ramage gang were next - again masses of applause and PR looked to love it. Stopped for autographs (as did a few others by the way) and all very good natured stuff.

                    8. Batlanta got a similar reception to the above.

                    9. Now we come to the crunch. Ali "spit" Russell walks past with his wife and did get a fair bit of vitriol. You can dress that up any way you want but if you're going to alledgedly say last season that fans are "pr1ckz" and generally treat people with percieved contempt the expect the same back. I could almost sense him cursing under his breath to his mrs and snooting at the 60 or so outside the pub. One fella in the crowd then remonstrated with the rest and got shouted down.

Next a massive juxtaposiiton -- cant recall which order but think it went like this.

                    10. Q Block Paladini -- sorry meant Gianni Paladini came past with his entourgae one of which was swinging a bottle of champagne. He got a load of stuff shouted such as "Sign a striker you......" Then Joe H and a few others went over the road and chatted with him and a few kids wanted autographs -- GP didn't look too comformatble and a few amle+beer+football+nice weather inspired comments about the females in his party were made. End of.

                    11. Sir Ian Holloway of W.12 and his wife walked past. Huge round of applause and singing. Mobbed and asked to sign bits and piees - he gets a kiss from Tommy and then a chorus of "Long ball Holloway" is struck up. He stares across and mouthed something and didn't look to happy - general banter and micky taking ensues and Ollie eventually joins in and off he goes.

Then various stewards, joe public etc go past and are asked if they can play up front or are yet another one of our midfield.

                    END OF

So back to the OP -- the players as a collective are referred to. STRANGE. It would appear from the above maybe only one player could have a beef... or is it other EMPLOYEES spitting the dummy?
Maybe they are worried another Sousa incident could occur and disciplinary action of the highest order have to be taken for divulging club business?

I assume it's still okay for players to speak to a chosen few as long as an "on message" view is posted here by certain individuals. Also intersting that the players who treat the fans wit contempt and can't be bothered to acknowledge fans are first to complain and also lord it up when everythings rosey.

We all know the real reason for this statement Mr.QBP and it's in items 9 and 10 above. I find it sad the club would consider stopping players interacting with the fans and I assume they as a group have been DIRECTED not to? ie the choice not given to them.

The gap heads towards a chasm ever faster..........
I need some time in the sunshine, I gotta slow it right down.

                      I'm more concerned about

                      1, 4 and 6 to be honest.

At the end of the day the players have requested not to walk past the Springbok, no others.

I'm just saying they won't be walking by and the reasons given

                        1. You don't like white jeans either??!?!?!

                        4. Offensive or banter?

                        6. Your concern is on which side of the coin or is it on both (like mine)???

To be fair, I wasn;t there.

I have been Springbok after games and no doubt it was banter and jest, in most cases they should take it as a laugh. Fitz hall did believe a "break leg comment " was made.

Your right, if we win no-one says a word and normally we are cheerful about a win anyway, but they were gutted to draw against Blackpool after dominating and I suspect they are just getting fed up with it. The players only are making alternative arrangements.

If you remember, they did at the end of last season a couple of times.

Sounds like Fitz 'Boyacca Sha' Hall is a bigger **** than what I thought he was.

IAm I the only person who finds this billy big ******** attitude insulting....who the **** walks through the White City Estate with a bottle of Champagne swinging all over the place anyway.

Personally I don't think it does the players and the staff any harm to take a bit of stick walking past the Springbok at least they know what the fans think off them.
