Mafia if SWP done as much as Mackie last season you would be creaming your pants and demanding an England call up! He was excellent last season and would go in my prem team of the year for last season. Get off his back and try to realise his game isn't about pretty tricks and stepovers, it's about the long forgotten art of of beating your man, making goals, scoring goals, tracking back, and above all playing for the shirt. Hugely important player IMO and invaluable to the club

Mackie is unlikely to be a starter next season. We've now got JSP. When everyone's fit, he will make the bench or cover for injury but I can't see much else for him.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Got a journalist pal ( He was the one that asked Sousa the fatal question in the press conference about Blackstock in the 4 year Plan! ) who keeps me updated re things he hears re Rangers.

This is not ITK or fact by the way. Just passing on whispers. Word is that If/Once Hoilett signs they will look to listen to offers and try to cash in on Mackie. On the basis that his asking price is as high as it will ever be after exceeding expectations last sesason.

The extended year on the contract was a reward for his good season but also can be used as an inflatory price magnet on a potential transfer. He is not in Hughes starting 11 and Hughes already has AJ on the bench for an impact sub role. Despite the love for Mackie from the fans it is no secret Hughes time and time again got frustrated with Mackie in games last season as did a number of players.

As i say not fact or gospel. Just passing on what i have been told and the whispers flying around. Would be a shame as the guy could be a useful impact sub next season. But if the right offer comes in Hughes will be happy to let him go.

                Jamie Mackie:

                1. Underrated
                2. Heart and Soul - We dont have many players currently who honestly play with some much passion and generally love the club!!!
                3. Improving all the time
                4. CAN SCORE GOALS
                5. 110% every game no matter the position or game he is in!
                6. Fairly young still!

Sell him and I will be angry!! He was 100% better than SWP all season! £3.5 million is a joke!

                END OFF DISCUSSION!!

Think your missing the issue. Points 2,3 and 5 are fantastic attributes for a player - when you are in a relegation battle. This season we are not in one of those (yet!)

Hughes is moving forward and has better players now. They may not have as much heart but are more creative and better all round players. Which is why Mackie will be on the bench and possibly sold. It makes good business sense to cash in on a player when his value is highest.

He was also not 100% better than SWP last season. Mackie got 4 assists and SWP got nearly 8. Almost double.

                      Forget sentimentality.

You don't sell your best players. That's not good business.

When we're in for a scrap, (take off those rose tinted specs off for a moment), should the team not gel too quickly, as we learnt last year or a player is injured, ala Dyer in 4 mins, we could very quickly end up in a scrap at the bottom before we know it. I can't think of a better player to have in a scrap than Mackie, most probably one of a handful of players who love the club and fight for the shirt.

Don't we want great depth so should we make a cup run we can keep players fresh.

If you're gonna sell some bench players I can think of a lot that can get off the wage bill first. I'd start with Hulse!

Mackie was one of our best players last season playing an important part in a run which was so hard!! Why sell your best player? He was better than SWP, so surely he is first to go.

You clearly dislike Mackie (probably as he looks less talented than SWP and isnt a massive name)

Yes but most of them would not get us 4.5-5 million pounds. I think we also need to think of Mackie in this situation. I do not think he is the sort of player who would want to sit on the bench and get us out of a scrap if things go wrong. His contract was only extended for a year, so am not sure how he figures long-term. Maybe some agreement was made that if somebody else came along he would be free to take up the option.

Yeah i agree with that Tetters i am optimistic we'll be ok .........but i can see the 3 promoted teams staying up, which then leaves Wigan?..well they pull out the stops every year, Villa? new manager who has already guided a team to safety with untried players.Swansea new manager and a couple of good signings by all accounts from Spain,Norwich? well they did ok last season and have kept their squad together, it's not going to be a walk in the park we have to survive this year again that's the main thing

I agree, absolutely fundamental we survive and I'm absolutely confident we will but nothing goes plain sailing at Rangers!
I'd love a cup run, so I think Mackie could be really important there to keep the starters fresh, I don't believe Park has played week in, week out for some time, so Mackie would be the perfect rotational player on the right. Personally, not convinced Swp is up to it.
