You could look at it another way, we lost Kenny but got Green and 500k. seems good to me..

Championship sides rarely spend much more than 500k on a keeper

Regardless of what we paid for him I think Green is a better keeper. He cost us nothing apart from bigger wages. The club could look at it that we are saving money with Kenny off the wage bill and the fee we get will cover x amount of months of Green's salary. Win win really.
As for what Kenny cost the club his initial fee was £250k but increased with games and promotion. That in all was a small price to pay considering where he helped us get to today. Overall not fussed if we lost money on him because we have benefited a on monster scale signing him in the first place.

When we bought him, he was playing at Sheff Utd in the Championship (a poor championship side) - though had only just come back from a lengthy ban (can't remember if he'd played much at all in fact).
He came in to us, was then part of a Championship winning side where he won player of the season. He then became a Premier League player, and though not the best PL goalkeeper, for the most part I still believe he maintained a pretty decent standard. But then we let him go for less than we paid for him.
I realise he was a couple of years older (though plenty of life left in him in GK terms), and ultimately, you are only worth as much as someone will pay - just thought we should have been able to get more than 500k for him.

Some fair points made here. He's 34 (not 35) but still, I guess that is likely to lower his value even though if he looks after himself, he should have 3-4 years left in him really.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not desperately unhappy about the situation, just had a nagging feeling we might have got more and wondered what others thought Certainly getting Green for free is a great result though.
However, 'getting our moneys worth' from him is not entirely relevant. I've sold many things that I've got my money's worth from - but funnily enough every time I looked to sell for as much as possible !
