  • Why shopaholics QPR must learn when to put away the wallet

Is Rangers’ relentless player recruitment damaging their long-term ambitions?

Rarely has there been a summer of such feverish excitement at Loftus Road, but if QPR are to achieve their long-term ambitions under Tony Fernandes they must avoid a repeat of short-term mistakes.

I think matey who wrote this is ignoring the fact that we have upgraded ( maybe apart from AJ) with every signing, and does concede that squad depth is vital to staying up so surely the right way to go. I'd be more worried if we bought just fancy dan ball jugglers, but we have some real battlers in amongst that squad as well as quality imo

I don't understand how we're "big spending QPR" when Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool, the Manchester clubs have all spent more in one transfer what we have spent in the entire window.

Last year they said we had one of the poorest squads in the Premier League, now we are strengthening it they criticise us for that too. I'm getting a bit tired of this agenda against us in the media.

That piece of so called 'journalism' really is poor.

Good, well written article - especially the JS Park paragraph - thats the Park situation in a nut shell.

Thing is what he is missing is the fact that it is no good trying to build for the long term in the championship. If we were not going to struggle again this year we need these signings the differance is this time we have had time to review, identify and target the people we want when before we didnt have that time.

I think we will see a reasonable turn over of playing staff for a few years as we replace older personnel we have signed on short term contracts and at the same time look at building the youth set ups.

IMO we have actually brought short term to give us time to build for the long term in the prem.

one of the problems with dealing in the transfer market is timing,if a player becomes available, you have to act.Quite often,if its either a really good player and/or that player is available at a bargain price, you have to pounce. It might be the only opportunity you get, where that player is concerned. If you don't,somebody else will.My thinking is,get 'em while you can.

All frees so far, 2 mill for park not exactly massive outlay.
