I don't think Green was with the squad. It was stated by the club the other week that Green wouldn't travel with everyone else, but join later due to his exploits with the Euro squad.

The reason for asking this is because (if I have read it correctly) since he is not a home grown player, you only have to pay compensation if he was at Blackburn for more than three years.
think he was "a product of their youth system"

The simple fact is that everyone has their price - and looking at it from outside then surely you'd rip their arm off with £3.5 million for Mackie.

However, I think his actual worth/value to the club is many, many times more than that. Granted he's not the greatest player on earth - but he's always there when the chips are down..... fighting tooth and nail..... never ever giving up. IMO a rare quality in the modern game.

One day he'll lose his pace.... but in the meantime I'd be keeping down the Rangers.

I really hope Mackie doesn't go.....he seems to be undervalued by lots on this board but his workrate and eye for goal from someone coming back from a broken leg is something to admire...

Agree don't know who some on here want that will do what he does better, turned the game v Liverpool, set up the winner v Arsenal, scored 2 after coming on v Blackburn a, equaliser v Swansea a, put us in front at City which gave us something to hang on to, and imo must have disheartened the Bolton players, and those are the major things he does, apart from working his a*se off.

to be fair IMO Mackie is a solid FBer,hes no super star.Think his days are numbered sooner or later by the class of players we linked with now.

The point about Mackie is that he's still improving and can do a specific job for us. There are a few I'd be shot of before him.

DITTO ..................... As stated before, took the boy (16) to Blackburn away and he couldn't stop talking about him for weeks after, we were 3 rows from the front and it was really emotional to see how fired up he was.
"Steve, do you think 25k is a good option when there are indications that within four years, new stadiums on average have increased attendances of 60%?
For us that would mean around 29k."
