First of all - congrats to all that went.As funky has stated, we can only beat whats in front of us.In past years we have struggled away in early cup ties.First div or sunday morning teams.

It was however a competetive game, and the goals will provide all with encouragment.Nice to see Pellicori score and sounds like him Vine and pat will be easing their way in coming months.

Nice to get 5-0 win in any comp match, but reality is how we perform on saturday.Still think we will need another striker up front.Good to see that Jim wasnt getting carried away with victory and get feeling if given the right tools could do a good job.

Exactly Spencer, but unfortunatly some are sounding like a stuck record and maintaining we are fine up top.

Are our current forwards good enough to take us into the top 4?

        No is the answer.

I said goals would come from midfleld and Routledge scored 3, cannot ask for more than that. It seems to me some are already making excuses for Plymouth before we play them, so if we win 2 or 3 nil you can say "its only Plymouth and they are the worst team in the league".

We've just won 5-0, lets enjoy it and stop arguing about needing strikers. We have 3 games in 10 days, Plymouth, Bristol City and Forest, lets just see how we do.

That makes more sense than craving for a new striker as games will not be won or lost in the next 10 days on the basis on whether we buy a new forward or not.

It Appears to me the only person arguing is you Pete... sounding like the affair towards the end of last season all over again :surrender:

Possibly the result against Blackpool would have been different if we had a striker who could find the target .. silly statement above

I'm with Benny and Funky amongst others -- a very enjoyable 2nd half rout against inferior opposition (who I think will struggle in League one and go straight back down again) -- so let's rejoice in it as a one-off cup game.
But we won't score as easily against teams at our own level, as we showed last Saturday, and anyone thinking we can get by on the forwards we've got is ignoring what has been obvious for a couple of years -- WE NEED A GOALSCORER!!! (i won't even say forward, because not all forwards are prolific goalscorers -- something the board doesn't seem to understand).
If we can score 5 away from home(or even AT home) with this squad in the league I'd be delighted (we'd all be) but I can't see it happening.
Faurlin is my hero!!! Love him!!! #########

we still need a striker. one goal was a pen, two goals were against 10 men... we were playin exeter and it was 0-0 at half time. now lets not get too excited eh but well done boys regardless!!!

5-0 was NOT to be expected. Blimey!

But we do need a quality goal poacher in, as I think we need to cover all types of forward player in our squad. Would you agree with that Pete?

Have to disagree with you on hogan, thought he played well all match, its just in the first half he was not being given help from the dire ref, and his goal was the classy goal he often comes up with when he plays well.
Vine was shocking to be fair, didnt seem to want to chase anything down, and didnt look committed at all, seemed to be low on confidence, holding his hands to his face when he misplaced a pass, buzz didnt do anything in the first half either.
Pellicori looked superb, not everything he did worked, but he worked space for him well, and always looked like he would score from the moment he came on. We do need another striker, but to play alongside him, taarabt should play on the wing and be used as back up striker if need be. Vine needs to get his confidence back and a spell in the reserves is what is needed, plainly he cant start at the moment and being on the bench wont help him at the moment.
Borrowdale looked committed confident and assured, (saturday as well) was pleasantly surprised, looked like a player who is trying to prove a point.
Stewart was poor, back to the previous stewart, 4th choice centre half

Well chuffed with the result-and fair play to the 800 odd who made the trip. It's fantastic that Routledge got a hat-trick and that Pellicori and Hogan scored-but this should not be allowed to advance the argument that we do not need to sign a striker. We do.It's obvious.

to be fair the penalty would have been a goal from open play had the defender not used his arm to save it on the line! We also had two other chances ligitimately cleared off the line from open play so could have been 7 quite easily!
you can only beat what is put in front of you and it doesnt matter what the score is at half time...you dont get bonus points for winning the first half.
Although it isnt anything to make us think we're going to win the league, we won 5-0 away from home in a cup match (when was the last time anything like that happened??) so we should just enjoy that fact and look forward to the next game.

i agree u can only beat whats in front of u, i was just making a point, that they are a NEWLY promoted league 1 side. you cant say shoulda been seven either cos they didnt go in, i bet they had a couple good chances too. they dont count. fact is two goals were still scored when they had 10 men, so lets not go too overboard... nice result, but we still got a lot to prove, lets see how we do against plymouth

                            Seems as though most are.

Blatantly obvious that we need a striker that
                            actually scores goals regularly.

Can't help but have the feeling that Pete is just
agreeing with what he has been spoonfed.

                            Pete. Are you?
