If we did get Bellamy in, I think we'd be sorted. Another CM couldn't hurt though.
Ok, assuming Ned goes CB and a player like Simpson comes in, who's his cover? Remember, two for each position and assuming Young is on his way. We will still require two defenders no matter where Ned plays.

We are of course 'assuming' Young is on his way out, but perhaps he's injured ?

Like I say, RB concerns me Simpson in would help sort it. Ned can still play there, as can Fabio and Dyer.

I would like a versatile full back who can play on either flank if Young goes I would also like a CB. QPR have enough strikers now in Cisse Johnson Zamora Helguson Campbell and Bothroyd. They cando with better ones, but if not signed, these 6 can do until January. A defensive midfielder would be good to have as Derry may not be effective anymore.

And that's the problem. Can Dyer stay fit for a whole game let alone a season?

I still think with a bit of defensive coaching Mackie could make a great right back as he has the energy to get up the wing and get back when required

Don't know, you'd hope so. Just saying we do have options to play there. Although without a doubt we need to strengthen the position. Defence is the one thing I'd have wanted settled before we went on pre-season tour, because it's the most important to get right.

I think you're right to worry about the defence, because if Dyer and Nelsen do break down with injuries often and suspensions kick in then we will start looking very weak. Maybe Hughes fancies Connolly as a full back?

For me, defence comes first. I'd have been a lot happier if this had been dealt with first. I guess Connolly might make the 25 as the 9th defender, but with Young presumably on his way out we still need a good, reliable CB and RB as cover at least.

I was kind of hoping Mackie would play in what I think his best position is, up front. He can do the job and that would release a midfield place up.

Maybe he's done all the squad players now, and is waiting for real quality to become available to strengthen the defence? Or he's waiting until January to sign Samba?

Nobody yet, which is why i think there's still a chamce he could sign for us, afterall it was reported we had a deal in place if we stayed up, and he aluded to such in an interview on player saying he was desperate for us to stay up so he could sign permanently.. not sure what's happened exactly.

Also, can anyone who suggests Dyer can play RB change the record.... he's not a defender and if he ever gets involved in a collision / tackle he breaks, literally, so hes not an option for a RB. IF he ever gets fit he needs to be an attacking wide player and try to avoid trouble if possible.

I'm sure I read somewhere Taiwo reported back for pre-season training with Milan. Correct about Dyer not being a RB, and with SWP, Park, and Mackie all fighting for a place on the wing, I can't see how he'd get a look in.

He will have reported to his parent club no doubt, but assume the deal could still happen if we chose to act on it, becasue he's not gone anywhere else. Maybe we are looking at another unknown option, and if it doesnt come off go back for Taye.

Apparently, Danny Simpson is available and Reading are in for him.

Kolo Toure also available. They'll both do nicely.
